Because everyone deserves the opportunity to learn about themselves with properly tested psychoanalytic equipment, and not just Buzzfeed quizzes. ^^
I'm glad so many people liked the first psych quiz! Here's one that's a bit more meaningful~. After this I'm gonna stop for a while; I don't actually have very many of these inventories. ^^;
Self-actualization is a term that describes how well one feels they have fulfilled their potential. There's a lot that goes into it: your self-esteem, independence, and how you feel about the people around you, to name a few things.
Now it's time to take the quiz! Rank each statement from 1 to 4: 1=Disagree, 2=Disagree somewhat, 3=Agree somewhat, 4=Agree. Read very carefully~. Scoring directions are at the end.
Index of Self-Actualization
- I do not feel ashamed of any of my emotions.
- I feel I must do what others expect of me.
- I believe that people are essentially good and can be trusted.
- I feel free to be angry at those I love.
- It is always necessary that others approve of what I do.
- I don't accept my own weaknesses.
- I can like people without having to approve of them.
- I fear failure.
- I avoid attempts to analyze and simplify complex domains. (Note: I have no idea why they decided to write it like that...read it as 'I avoid attempts to understand complex issues'. That'll do ya~)
- It is better to be yourself than to be popular.
- I have no mission in life to which I feel especially dedicated.
- I can express my feelings even when they may result in undesirable consequences.
- I do not feel responsible to help anybody.
- I am bothered by fears of being inadequate.
- I am loved because I give love.
Scoring
To calculate your score, first reverse the values for Statements 2, 5, 6, 8, 9, 11, 13, and 14 (change 1's to 4's and 3's to 2's, and vice versa). Then add the values for all 15 items.
The higher the score, the more self-actualized you are said to be at this point in your life. You can compare your score with the norms of college students reported by the test developers:
Mean: 45.02 (Men), 46.07 (Women)
Standard Deviation: 4.95 (Men), 4.79 (Women)
