PV's/subs drop on webtoon since january 1st?

Is someone else noticing a huge drop of PV's/subs since january 1st?

I even looked at comics from friends and they also grow much slower now. Atm, I get 40% of my regular subs and 60% of my regular PV's.

It's so strange because the PV's/subs were fine on Dec. 31st and it looked like somebody pushed a button on the next day to make sure that just a few people wanted to read comics.

Students got exams, people are busy with the beginning of the year stuff and all. You can notice even this forum is mostly dead at the moment.

Honestly I haven't noticed anything. Maybe because of the fact that I don't have a big numbers of subs yet and also in my friends I haven't really noticed a difference but I noticed that the same phenomenon keeps happening like accross the other social media that once a new chapter is out some people unsub

No worries, I'm also losing some subs each time when I update, it's normal. I wish u all the best and more attention from readers! My comic has 30K+ subs and is growing pretty fast, I had no idea what was going on when I noticed the drop.

Is it a new comic? Maybe they were just promoting you few times in a row and then you disappeared from promo pages?

No. it's 1,5 years old and canvas promoted it in december, but the subs I get are high even without promo (100-150 subs each day). Now, I get 40-50. I don't complain because it's still a lot, I just thought I'm doing something wrong.

Yeah, major major die off. I'm chalking it up to holiday busyness, travel, students taking advantage of being on vacation to do IRL things, all of that. I actually had a lot of extra fun stuff packed in around the holiday chapters kind of thinking that people would be around more to read them and would be in a celebratory mood. Lol wrong. This is my first book and I am a n00b and I have since gathered that this was the exact opposite of what actually happens. Live and learn. Next time I'll maybe plan a wee hiatus over the holidays to avoid shouting into the empty air.

I say don't take it personally. In the US, most high school and college students will head back to school in the next week, almost all holiday travel is over, things should get normal again soon. Right? RIGHT??? I'm TOTALLY NOT TAKING IT PERSONALLY BECAUSE I AM SO SECURE AND SELF ACTUALIZED AND IT IS NOT HURTING MY FEELINGS AT ALL maniacal laughter.

Anyway, thanks for the thread because it makes me feel less silly.

If anyone new wants to buck the trend and come read my little book, which is genuinely more fun than the deafening sound of crickets makes it seem... here it is...

I really forgot that the majority of webtoon's community is young, ofc they go to school/university. I had no idea that they could be so busy that they even don't have time for reading comics.

I feel your pain, I think getting attention for a novel is much harder than for a comic. I wish you all the best for the new year and many new readers.

Well, there's desk busy and everything else busy, and I think when people are desk busy, they're more likely to do desk recreation like reading. Everything else busy means that for once, we're all not living by notifications and updates (I mean, for like, normal people, not for my addicted self).

Yeah, Tapas is maybe not the optimal place for building a massive readership for a novel, especially since they just chopped their program for applying to have a novel edited & featured, but hey... still better than letting it sit in the cloud unread! Two hundred beta readers is better than none!

That's pretty nice. I wished I could do that well. I haven't reached one hundred yet... Working in chapters regularly and I barely get about five new subs each time I do submit. I try do do best possible job and it seems like it's not working out for me yet... I'm really hoping for it to do better, since it's my first independent comic I do on my own

I must say that Anastasia is talking about a comic on Webtoons. There's always a good chance for a comic to do there better than on Tapas (just believe me on this) in terms of numbers. But I really want to say that it may be really hard to hit big numbers with a first comic. Don't get disheartened and ask for help/feedback on the forum if needed, people here really might help you out with an advice or two.

It's not really the first comic of mine in general I'm and old-school artists when back in that days everything got printed in books I published in a few collections of one shots. I was scared to start a self-standing comic because of the dedication and time you need to put into it, right. Like your entire world starts turning around it and when the comic runs under the radar you easily get heatbroken and feel like a failure. I had to get used to the digital noodle format too, that was something new. But like you said it's quite hard to launch yourself on a new platform and everything grows slow and it takes time and lots of effort too. Thank you for coming back at me, Kelheor
