QUESTIONS about terms in writing on TAPAS! HELP!

Hello, fellow Homo sapienssss!!!

It’s the author of “Only Us – Survive or Die”, “Accused by a Machine”, and “There is No Escape” (make sure to check them out ).

I need your help! I’m still pretty new to Tapas, even though I posted my first novel back in March 2025.

BUT— I’m still not familiar with all the terms and rules here, because I often get mixed messages like:

“It’s okay to post this!”
and then five minutes later: “Why did you post that?! It’s not allowed!”

So now I’m confused

I just want to ask those who know:

• Can I use curse words?

• Is it okay to talk about gore, as long as it makes sense in the story?

• Do I have to mark those chapters as “Mature” if they contain cursing or gore?

By “curse words,” I mean stuff like fuck, bullshit, shit, and other strong language — it’s just part of how some of my characters express themselves and show emotion.

I like to write in a detailed, immersive way so readers can really feel what the characters are going through, so I want to make sure I’m doing it right without breaking any rules.

You can use curse words, otherwise I would've been banned long ago 🤣 I dont mark those chapters as mature if its just language. If im going to set the M toggle, I take advantage of that and write actual mature content along with curse words

Gore also fine. If you feel it gets detailed that describes body parts being sliced off and bone and guts everywhere, you might consider it mature.

OMG that’s awesome! Since I’m writing about zombies, I also mention cannibalism sometimes — so it’s fine as long as I mark those chapters as Mature, right? Thank you!!

yep, mark them as mature, but do be prepared for fewer views on mature chapters! some people may skip past it if they are not comfortable
