Questions about the process of posting a novel

Hello,

For over a year I have been working on my novels preparing to upload on Tapas.

Of course nothing goes as planned I have investigated multiple sites where to post but Tapas convinced me since my dream is to hopefully have a graphic webnovel made. I also like many perks you get from tapas and I love many of the medieval novels tapas has translated.

That being said when I was about to post my novel I noticed 3 things. Series banner, custom ad banner, and Descending order.

Questions:

1.- Is a series banner needed?
2.- What is a custom add banner? Is it a banner showing links to patreon twitter and stuff?
3.- Tapas doesn't recommend activating descending order. What is that? And is it not recommended by authors?
4.- How recommended is it to use a custom add banner if it is a banner to add your twitter, discord or any other link from the author?

1) It is not needed but a well made banner lets your work stand out more and be more appealing to subscribers so its reccommended you have one.

2) More or less, yes. Mostly to remind people of your patreon or that you take tips (tips are ink on tapas but you can only recieve ink after you reach a certain number of subs)

3)Mostly due to it being more a comic site first hence the newer better artwork of your later episodes are seen as more a draw to audiences. But I dont think it matters too much thou. I just leave it as default cus it doesn't affect me much.

4) I'll say no harm is having one or not having one. If you want people to more easily follow you else where might as well have it if you want.

Also a thing whats a graphic webnovel? if you mean just web novel with some pictures, well yeah I believe you can have up to 5 pics per episode in a webnovel lol. I tend to have at least on illustration per episode for funzies. If you mean web comic.. I recommend making a web comic directly if that's your goal. cus tapas rarely adapts its non imported western novels to webcomics . Even the biggest creator on the site Kiss it better had to commission other people for make their short halloween comic.

Overall the community is willing to give advise and help anyway they can, so dont be a stranger when it comes to asking for advise and help

Thanks a lot. By graphic webnovel I did mean a webcomic adaptation but korean style work.

The main reason I don't do a webcomic directly is because I suck at drawing so I commision my work to artists. While I can pay for some images I can't pay a full comic yet.

That being said even if I never get the opportunity by tapas to be published I do plan to pay for it myself with whatever money I manage to earn. After all that is my goal. I am doing it for myself and the love I have for novels.

That being said thanks for your wonderful advice and it's good to know tapas rarely publishes novel works I will still not give up so wish me luck. And have a wonderful day/week.
