I'm doing some research for a pinoy-american character of mine who wears a traditional dress for a culture day at her daughter's kindergarten. The theme of this festival type event is for children to get their parents to come and tell the students some things about their culture, (food, clothing, songs etc.)
Unfortunately, I have a hard time trusting the information I find online and being sure it's actually written by people who know what they're talking about i.e. people from the culture in question.
So my question is, did Filipino women ever actually wear the Maria Clara dress as a part of normal life (or even for weddings/special events) or is that a myth inspired by the book the character Maria Clara came from?
