I had this same revelation years ago.
It's like, I like Caravaggio, but I'll never get to that level, nor do I want to spend the time to get there.
So I stayed in my own lane, and figured out what's best for my own work. I focused on working on and improving the aspects that I want to sing out, to truly make my own work the best it can be.
That's not to say, don't try and pick up techniques from artists you admire, but trying to copy them element for element will probably leave you not as happy as you might want.
And now I really like the art I produce, and I think it's uniquely me!
