Reading a mature story - but skipping the M-rated chapters?

Hello!

Just something I wondered about:
My story is for adults, because it's Dark Fantasy and has a lot of mature topics (at least when I went with the descriptions Tapas offers when it comes to the mature tags).
Hence I wrote "18+" in the description and, well, more than the half of my chapters are tagged "mature" for different reasons (sometimes just "blood", I tried to be super careful).
That just for context.

I totally understand if someone doesn't want to read a story with any mature content. What I find a bit odd, is that f.e. all parts of chapter 4 have a (for my story) high count of views, while the chapters before (tagged M) aren't read.
Why would I read chapter 4 of a story I can't understand without the context of the three chapters before?
Why would I read a story at all, when I don't want mature content and see that so many chapters/ parts are tagged M?

Has anyone ideas about this?
I'm just curious!
I'm super thankful for everyone who wants to take a look at my story, don't get me wrong. So if someone just wants to read the chapters that are not M-tagged, I'm fine with that.
I just really would like to know how this can be a good reading experience.
Am I so good at writing that even these small parts/ fragments are intriguing enough? (I strongly doubt that )

The Tapas app hides mature content. Something to do with complying with Apple and Google store standards. People reading on their phones might not even see the missing chapters.

That's... disappointing. I guess especially for a reader who is confused by what's going on, when not able to see how many chapters they missed.

It is one of the many reasons that as much as Tapas tries to bully people into using the app by actually breaking their website when viewed on mobile browsers, I absolutely refuse to do so.

when i read or watch mature content, i dont skip on anything, especially if the M-rated parts are critical to the story. Imagine if you skipped on the sex scenes of the movie masterpiece "old boy" (original), it would be blasphemous!.

Understandable. I find the app quite useless too, especially for writers. The only thing I "need" it for, is to mark the messages (mostly advertising... ) as read.

Yeah, agreed, I wouldn't skip anything mature too, especially when intentionally reading a story that's rated 18+. Wouldn't make sense to me.
But, as ThunderChicken explained, it seems that those using the app can't even see the mature tagged chapters. So... they maybe have no choice?

You can see mature chapters on the app, I see mature chapters all the time Tapas is even advertising mature stuff so I don’t think that’s the issue. The difference in views probably has more to do with bot views and the fact that they won’t view the M chapters because they probably haven’t turned viewing M stuff on. Tapas does get some bot views now and then :3 Certain people do avoid some M rated chapters tho, depending on triggers. Which has nothing to do with whether the book is 18+

Aaand I didn't know about the bots. But yeah, makes sense. (There goes my hope that some real people are reading my story. )
Oh, yes, that's clear! That's the reason why I try to tag my chapters properly. Still... Maybe I'm blind, but I don't see for what reasons a chapter is tagged mature. So maybe they miss out on chapters that wouldn't be a problem for them? (And this would sadly make my story quite unreadable for them, if they avoid all M-tagged chapters, cause they can't distinguish if there's a topic that would trigger them, or just something else that is mature but no problem for them. )

Yeah, I don't think there's any way for readers to see why a chapter has been marked mature. But you can always add a little CW in the description box of the previous chapter. It'll give a heads up to readers about what kind of mature topics are going to be coming up next.
