So.. I've finally gathered enough courage to ask you guys a simple but important favor.

Can someone please critique and review my comic?

I need some feedback from my fellow comic creators and readers to not only get some traffic, but most importantly to improve my work. I know the "good job!" "amazing!" "keep it up!" comments are really good and all but what I'm looking for is someone who can tell me in detail what they think. what went wrong, what went right.,all that good stuff.

I want you guys to be honest, tear me a new one if you have to. I just want it to be good. haha!

So the comic is called The Life of Cas-- it's an action,mystery with monsters, superheroes(kinda) psychics and gods that revolves around the female protagonist named Cas. I just finished the prologue and working on my first story arc.

To anyone who's willing to help out and needs some review or critique in return, i'm willing to give you my thoughts as well I may not be the best critic or reviewer but I do have an opinion. just drop the link if you have some stuff you want me to check out.

Okay, just took a quick look at your comic. Depending how old you are, it's actually quite good. Now, if you want me to compare it to "professional" comics... Some things:

• Careful with your color palette. You use bright colors along with very strong masses of black, looks a little weird or off... I'm not a colorist, though. So take this with a grain of salt.
• The way you draw characters... you seem to be in a little bit of a limbo. Your style is at its best in that splash page where you draw Knight jumping from a building, when you draw "normal" characters they seem to remain in an undefined pseudocartoon-influenced style that may go against the tone of the series.
• Your backgrounds feel a little underdeveloped... Also, try to include them in your panels, don't do panels of just characters all the time, and if you do, try to change the composition to have more dynamism: have some panel of the characters seen from above, to highlight where they sit, what body language they have, etc.
• Finally, about composition. I really like that you're trying to innovate with your panel layout, but try to think that every panel needs to serve the story. If you change the scene, make sure that your first panel from that scene makes sense as an opening. Try to go simple: one panel accomplishing one thing. You can go for a wide establishing shot or for a manga-like introduction where you put two or three panels of small details (wind blowing, someone cooking, etc.) for a more relaxed style...

Again, you're doing quite well. More than anything else, just observe your favorite artists and try to analyze how they do what they do.

Im in my early 20's too. Yeah im not that young. Haha!

Im not really much of a colorist and its a process i tend to groan about. I wanted to go greyscale for a while now but i dunno how others would react.

When it comes to backgrounds... you're absolutely right. I need to work on that.

Im trying to get out of that limbo but i wanted a contrasting style. Like something that can be both lighthearted and serious when the need arises. I havent had that quite down yet.

Yeah, I get what you mean about the style. In that case, just try to be very clear to yourself about what kind of style do you want to achieve. Not just a vague idea, try to pin it down to something like "I like the eyes that so and so do, plus the expressive style of this artist, plus this..." and so on. And then just compare those specific things to what you do currently. Be very honest; remember, at the end of the day, it's just lines. A lot of the problems people have is that they just have a vague idea of what they want to do, thus they don't have a frame of reference to compare themselves, so they are not able to track progress. If you break your work into tiny parts it's much easier to keep doing improvements and you'll also feel better about it because you are always feeling that you're improving

Hiya @KET! I read over The Life of Cas and I'm liking it so far. You are actively working on everything people mention, such as the lettering. You have a really strong start with Cas and her roommate, every page with those two gives me a smile. Hopefully the whiplash transition from her to the adventures of The Knight will settle in after a bit
