I do like the visual novel version a lot better than the anime, and the mystery was interesting, the plot had really neat stuff going on. It gave me similar vibes as Corpse Party, which was also much better as a visual novel than anime. Lol did you think watching kai first made the first series more digestible? For me at the time the turn off was the cute character designs mixed with how they acted, plus the animation got really... ugly sometimes during the freak-out scenes. Reminded me of cute-violent goth teen stuff you'd see a lot in the early 2000's. Again, I'd probably be fine with it now since I've grown used to that kind of aesthetic.

Aw man, I don't wish I was a teen again, but I do miss the simplicity of it all. Like chilling at the mall or a book store, walking to the café for something to drink before school starts, not having to think about a whole lot outside of that. Adulthood is a scam. Lmao!

Pfff alright. Don't worry if it's not your thing, the story is very niche, and the graininess of color pencils isn't for everyone. Also I gotta give the usual nudity, profanity, substance abuse, violence, implied sexual assault and blood warning. Read at your own discretion.

I think it did make it digestible cause Kai has hardly any gore and it explains why the characters act the way they do, so maybe you could try watching kai first, I also didn't love the designs they had so I understand what you mean!

Higurashi no naku koro ni (first season) is about like 4 failed loops of Rika without an explanation whatsoever

whereas "Higurashi... ni kai" is about why those things happened and Rika's stuck existence and how she and her friends work together to break free from the 'bad endings'

So yeaah if you want to give it a try I suggest you watch kai, which is the answer arc first, it kills the mystery but it will make more sense like that. I probably have a different perspective because of my mistake hahah

Though I guess the satisfying thing one misses when watching the second first is that... The first scenarios that ended badly are rectified on the second so, if you watch the second first you don't know what happened before that was bad (?) but if you don't care about that then yes, watch kai first or watch the first knowing its just full of cruel scenarios that will be explained on the second

Ooh I recently read a good one - 'What Happens Next' Not 100% sure if it's the brand of dark you're looking for (it feels pretty different from Madoka Magica imo), but it's so real and made me feel so uncomfortable and I love it XD

And oh what the heck, might as well - my oneshot God's World might count? (Some people think the artstyle is cute anyway XD) Take or leave it as you wish; I've been interested in your comic since this comment and I'll get around to it at some point regardless

By the waaay thought of telling only you, but, through commenting on the forum and being mindful of how long it's going to take me to tell the story I want to tell... I'm probably going to redo my current story so I can call it fully original XD Like, no more references to another series.

It's probably going to take me like 6 years to write it in novel format and a while in comic form, and well, I like the concepts I'm doing but the label of 'fanfiction' feels very limiting x'D So yeaaah I'll probably restart it with more content and expanding on it too. (It was just starting)

But I wanted to let you know just in case you get around to reading it xD I rather you wait for a new link I share here C: It'd be the same about brothers and the same scenario you liked from that comment. (It would only change in that I'm talking about my characters and not existent characters from someone else x'D)

I started this like 10+ years ago so I was kind of blinded by that and was late to realize I don't have to keep making this as "fancontent" when everything but the name of the characters is original ú_ù Soo, hope you might be interested even if I get rid of the 'fan' label x'D

Thank youu, I really do love my plot but I hate that I'm basically gifting it away and being voluntarily bounded by it x'D Since when doing fanfiction is important to keep references going and being loyal to some stuff so the fandom doesn't get upset.

So yeah, I don't want to give up but I don't want to work for another 6 years for a fanfiction haha, I think it's just pointless x'D

It does make alot if sense, at end of the day fanfiction is supposed to be a labour of love to an orginal already existing story.

So you are definitely not obligated to continue one if you just want your own characters with your own plot and world building.

I'll say for the best ultimately, especially if you get popular on here cus tapas more supports orginal IPs and tend to be very squirrelly in regards to fancomics.

Thank you! Yeah I also thought labelling it as a fancomic is unfair considering the complex storytelling I have prepared for it, so why put people off by doing a "fancomic" I rather just share my original ideas than sabotage myself x'D

I've kind of already read it before I saw this comment, but I'd totally be down for a fully original version! Not being familiar with the PowerPuff girls myself, I was worried I was missing something because of my lack of knowledge of the source material, but you did say the 1st chapter was supposed to be confusing and you wanted it to be accessible to people not in the fandom, so I trust I didn't miss anything important But a fully original work would dispel those fears altogether

Yess, the only things you would have missed were references like the Mojo jojo one since the plot was like more "original" than anything and for like... 6 chapters there weren't gonna be anything people that didn't watch the cartoon would miss.

But yeaaah tbh, I can do so much more with it if it's not a fancomic so I'm really glad you're okay with this x'D

I even wondered if to delete my comic or to leave it hanging though I think it'll be okay even if I let it exist haha, I think the most annoying thing will be coming up with another title now XD but yeaaah I feel free and not bound by chains anymore >:]

I've already started planing more stuff that is waaay different to what I've already shown. That confusing chapter 1 isn't going to be in the this next version though BD but some bits of the prologue will remain.

In particular I was talking more 'they screw up because they're trying to pull something that normal people with a healthy sense of self-interest/preservation would never pull', and they could very well solve the problem they were trying to solve but make things worse in other respects So it's possible the vibes I was looking for don't exactly match. All that's to say if I don't give it a 'pass' (based on hitting the very specific thing I was looking for in that thread), it doesn't mean the scene was bad or not engaging in other ways

I say leave it up and tag it as 'discontinued' or something so people won't expect you to finish it You can even have the same title for your new version tbh if it still fits if you add 'old' or something to your old version to distinguish it :]
