Recommended Fonts

Hello,
I've searched for similar topics and I saw that there is one every few weeks, but I didn't want to bump an old thread for my question.

I've been searching for good fonts, but just looking at sample words on sites doesn't help me , I need to see how it looks on a comic page.

My suggestion would be for members to post some sample pages, be it from their own comic or other's, and to write what font is being used and why you think it looks good.

I'd also appreciate recommendations, though it would help if the respective font was free.

To be honest, I was perfectly fine with using Comic Sans (years ago) until the net made me think that making people look at that font is the greatest visual insult or something and I never really understood where that vitriol comes from.
I'm using Creative BBlock and Comic Relief right now, but I'm not completely pleased with them.

This first strip was from my last comic Tripp. It uses the free Letteromatic font from Blambot.com.

This strip is from my Peppermint Helmet comic here on Tapastic. It uses the Manga Master font, also from Blambot. This one is a pay font.

The font I use currently is called Unmasked BB from Blambot.

In the future I was actually thinking of using this (better) font called Hundred Watt (Blambot).

Yeah, I was told the same thing about Comic Sans. Kinda a bit of irony that it has the term "Comic" in it, but when it's used for comics it's really difficult to read.

I use Anime Ace 2.0 BB. I believe it's still free to get. For sound effects, I use a variety, from Crash landing (bottom panel) to Death Rattle, Shock Therapy and others (these fonts were free too, I think I got them from deviantART)

Before I recommend a font, I am goint to recomment this website: wordmark.it

No, it is not for you to download fonts, in this website you write a word or a phrase and it shows that word or phrase in all the fonts you have installed in your computer. It is GREAT.

Now, the fonts I use are mostly Comic Book and Candara. Comic Book for ballons, Candara for "subtitles", I like how the numbers look with Candara.

There were other fonts I like, but I do my webcomics in both english and portuguese, and there are some beautiful fonts that miss "Ç" or "~" and "^" =/ So I can't use them for the portuguese version ><

I usually add more space between letters and lines, I try to make it easy for me to read, at least.

For onomatopoeia I usually go for Comic Book Commando.

When I first started my Togire! series, I wasn't sure if certain fonts were copyrighted, so I created my own font based on my handwriting to dodge the problem. I call mine ChibiFox. I used a website called Yourfonts.com where you can print or digitally download a template which you fill in, upload to the site and download. You can also preview your font in case you need to make tweaks before you buy. It costs $9.95 for the basic package or $14.95 depending if you want lots of symbols or emoticons. I really appreciate all the samples and helpful advice. They all look great. I will look them up and see which to use , they all seem professional and easy to read. I have to admit though, typesetting has always been the most tiring part of comic making for me .....
