[Reply Notifications on Mobile App] and [5 comics per day on the Browser]

Message Notifications are really important (for me perhaps) and when I tried using the Tapastic mobile App I noticed there is NO Icon for reply notifications ,which kinda bugged me but the 5 comics per day on the App is awesome, makes me wonder why can't we add the 5 comics per day on the main browser?

There are some things missing from the App and some things that can be added to the Browser, What do you think?

YMMV, but the Daily Snack feature (and the inability to turn in off) was what made me delete the Tapastic app off my device :/

I've wanted reply notifications on the app for a while now. Beats going to the full site when you're already on the app. The DeviantArt app has a similar issue where you can't access notes (PMs), but it'll be added in a future update. Hopefully, reply notifications will be added to the Tapastic app.

Excellent but what do you think about the "Daily Snack feature" ? Would and should it be added on main Tapastic Site?

I don't like it at all. At least, not how it's implemented on mobile.

The first thing I want to see is if the comics I've subscribed to have update, any activity on my own comics, or a way to easily find whatever I feel like reading at the moment.

Granted, some people prefer to have new content presented to them up front. I just happen to not be one of those people.

I didn't know the Tapastic app didn't have reply notifications :< That sounds like something I would expect, tbh...

Not sure on that one. I think that the Daily Snack is geared towards mobile users. Last year, 60 percent of users read Tapastic are on a mobile device http://forums.tapastic.com/t/a-few-thoughts-on-mobile-comics and the DS would be the first thing that pops up when the app opens. There is Today's Comic Pick email that usually features one of the DS comics. To me, whether DS should be added to the site depends on if there's enough demand for it.

I agree. Unless I open up the app through the Daily Snack notification, I'd like to see the comics I subscribe to first. You also can't sort messages, likes and your comments on your mobile profile. That'd be another feature I'd add.

Sorry if this sounds a little rude, but how much trouble is it to just click the reading list panel? The mobile app is catered to mobile readers, including new mobile readers. If new mobile readers come to the app and see an empty reading list, they will be baffled (especially considering those new readers are often not even members, and maybe never will be members; they just come online to read, and sign up for Tapastic when they want to become more dedicated readers). The Daily Snack is, TBH, a great front page just because, you know, most people are on the mobile app to read, and Tapastic is pulling in new readers all the time, readers who they hope to make subscribers out of, and they can only do that by showing them daily comics that they can read while on the bus, at work, etc.

Although I do agree it would be nice to see replies in some fashion, most of the time I'm able to easily access these by checking my Gmail, which is linked to my phone, which is linked to my Tapastic, so I'm often able to get notifications that way. A little roundabout, but it works for now

DS may be great for some people, but it's not for everyone.

On the flip side of your argument, what if the Reading List panel was the first screen a user saw and the user would need to tap to get to DS? IMO, this flow would make more sense for people who use mobile exclusively to check up on series that they follow.

If there's a first-time user, maybe adding a screen where users can access recommended series can alleviate the problem of Empty Front Page Bafflement.

My only issue with the comic snack is that it has shown eyeball-touching related humor several times which is a huge phobia of mine...
I also don't get the policy of enforcing the NSFW filter when they go and put violence on the comic-snack regardless.

I like the Daily Snack. It helps to discover comics i might not have seen otherwise.

What I don't like is it's always the same type of gag a day comics.

Just like in comic book store, i only need to quickly flip through a few pages to deciide if I want to buy the comic. The Daily Snack can be digital version of page flipping for the long form types of comcs. I don!t need the whole story on my phone, just a taste will do.

The staff has already working towards changing the norm of the Daily Snack. It's not an easy change they can make right away, but they are definitely working towards a more balanced system. They just have to be careful about what they put on the front - it needs to be something that can be read easily and won't be thrown out of context. So they're choosing longform comics that have decent openings that have enough of a lead and introduction that will get readers interested enough to want to read more.
