Rewriting a story with drastic changes:Should I edit the old one, or publish a new series separate from it

Hi, I wanted to ask a quick question about which would be the better option.

Recently I posted my short superhero story, Jumping Jack, which was originally meant to be a short stand-alone story and was already completed. However, I want to rewrite large portions of it here and there, along with drastically changing the ending, with the intent of turning it into a much longer running series rather than just a short 6 chapters. Additionally rather than it being about that one superhero, it's instead going to be told through a variety of perspectives, which means I'd probably need to change out the title.

I was wondering if it'd be better to keep the old one as is, and just make a separate series with the edited chapters and continuation there, or if it'd be better to edit the pre-existing one, change it's name, and just start adding chapters from then on? I feel like keeping the two separate might risk being confusing, so I assume it'd be better to only have one of the two up.

If you dont feel comfortable with people seeing the older version, inform your readers you are gonna change it and edit things there.

If you like the idea of people seeing the older version, you can rename the older one as "Jumping Jack(older one-off version) "and create a new one with the changes you wanna make.

There is also a higher chance that if you separate them, readers might not click on the older series. So it's really up to you!

@DiegoPalacios @Penni Okey dokeys, thank you two. I think I'mma separate them and just rename the original to make it clearer it's a one-off, or maybe include that somewhere in the description, since I like the idea of keeping the older one around.
