Romance writers (or even if you have a romance sub-plot) how many chapters did you wait to start introducing the romance?

Oh true, changes in life causing you to have to shift dynamics is also a good point. It's definitely part of what moves the relationship in "Damsel in the Red Dress " as well.

My comics is basically a romance storyline buried in a supernatural/horror telling. But the two characters don't actually start dating til the end of the first book (episode 23). Being as my comics is a weekly comics, about half a year. I wanted to explain what Gavin has gotten into before he could make the actually decision.

I'm writing a romance that's set to release in February so the relationship has already been introduced at the second chapter and they are so cute!! I am currently updating a story that does have a romance it's enemies to lovers so I don't see that happening for a while especially since I haven't finished introducing the main characters (There are 14)

I’d say romance didn’t kick in until around chap 30 and before that the love interest is intentionally left ambiguous. Honestly it required dedication for romance seeker to enjoy my story since it is slow burn. Very very slow!

That's something the story itself tells you. Some stories require you to wait longer, some don't. There are so many factors that influence romance, characters being the most important one.

Lol, mine is the same way, but is it still hinting, even though it's ambiguous, or is it entirely unclear until chapter thirty? I also like a bit of romance, and my novel IS a romance, but I generally prefer slow burn romances, rather than whirlwind romances.

Yeah it's been a bit of a process but I came up with a process write each arc, introduce them all one by one, then intertwine them very carefully

Yes there was very few subtle hints but it only gotten obvious from chap 30 onwards.

The romance is kind of there from the start, in that their relationship develops from the very moment they meet and their developing of mutual feelings are a part of that.

I plan for there to be mutliple romances in my story but since they are sub-plots the first one isn't going to pop up until around chapter 18 so pretty late. And its a couple that's already together so I get to just write them being cute and supportive of eachother.

I tend to write about couples who are already in relationships, so you get it from chapter one. The first chapter is establishing the kind of love and affection they have for each other. It's like establishing their "love style".
