Sci-Fi promotion thread

Hi guys, this is a thread for all you authors out there who are writing sci-fi novels and comics. There doesn't really seem to be that many opportunities for this genre on Tapas with fantasy and romance being the dominant forces here, so this thread is to give all the sci-fi authors out there a place to share and promote their work.

Specifically, I'm promoting the end strip of my comic, Jerry The Brain Gerbil. I've actually recently wanted to add more proper sci-fi elements to it, and as of the latest episode have begun doing that.

Hey, I've seen you around a while. Good to hear Donnie is still doing well. I'm interested in Jerry, is he a new character? or are you planning a spin off based on him?

Jerry The Brain Gerbil is a comic strip that appears at the end of every episode of Donnie The Fighting Psychopath, and Jerry, of course, is the main character of said strip. I have actually considered the future of Jerry, and giving him his own separate series, like a weekly or bi-weekly sunday comic, but coming up with Jerry strips has become really hard, and I'm honestly sure I'll be able to come up with enough strips to be worth making a full series.

Jerry himself (As far as I know) Does not exist within the Donnie the universe. He's his own character, in his world. (As far as I know)

As far as you know? , so there's a possibility that Jerry could be some kind of super-powerful Para causal entity that can break out of his own strips and somehow enter Donnie's world without you intending to do so? Interesting... But more seriously, yeah I can understand the feeling, when you have an idea for a story but it's harder to come up with ideas for writing it than it was to have the idea in the first place.

Still, it's good to see you're story is doing well, let's hope this thread gets it more attention .

I do hope Tapas staff fixes the description box when we type in our series link though. It would be much easier to see the summary of our works.

Yeah, you've got a point there, but I guess with the Discord, they aren't too worried about improving the interface on the forums. Seems to me the promotions threads on here are kind of dying out. I see a lot more questions and off topic stuff than before.

Is that right? I wouldn't know, I don't use the discord, it seems like it's a lot harder to get noticed on there. Mainly because posts are always just drowned out in a flood of other notifications and before you know it the one thing you post has disappeared in about 500 others.

I don't know who thought using Discord for something like this was a good idea but I've started looking for other websites where I can post my novels, I haven't found any though most of them seem to only be for comics. Do you have any recommendations?

Yeah, I think the forums and discord are both good for different purposes. But I certainly prefer the forums in most cases!

I cross-post to Neovel which is a pretty nice platform. It has a small but growing audience.

If anyone here likes dark comedy in their sci-fi, and aren't easily repulsed by a story involving the actions of horrible people, (especially if they're about to get what they deserve,) try giving this a read:

I subbed. Using history as the basis for sci-fi has always been a tradition, but I'm not sure I've seen a comedy series that does that, so you have my interest. I look forward to reading it .

Of course, I can't miss the sci-fi thread! I love writing/drawing about alien civilizations, corrupt science, dreams vs. reality, the multiverse etc. (And my manga reached 1K likes today - yay!)
