I am looking for a comic artist to collaborate on turning my dark epic fantasy novel, "The Last Dragon Knight," into a webcomic. While I have experience writing stories, I am a complete beginner when it comes to the comic medium, and I am looking for a partner to help me navigate this new format.
The story is set in the world of Alandavor, where the birth of the last Dragon Knight foretells a tragic end. This child possesses the power to open a portal to the Abyss and unleash an apocalyptic war. As the fanatical Brotherhood of the Black Flame moves to capture the infant, the responsibility of protection falls to an unlikely group: the noble knight Kalen ‘Fal, a cynical warrior, an elven assassin, and a mercenary of dubious reputation.
What to Expect:
Genre: High Fantasy / Grimdark / Psychological
Tone: Grounded and character-driven; expect a slow burn with real emotional weight, betrayal, and a world where even the monsters have stories.
Content: The story features graphic violence and mature themes.
Scale: At the moment of writing this the story already counts with 40+ chapters already written, with the full length surpassing 150 - 200 chapters.
I understand the immense amount of work that goes into storyboarding, inking, and lettering a comic. Therefore, my offer is as follows:
This will start as an unpaid passion project. However, if the comic begins to generate revenue (through Tapas ink, Patreon, webtoon, or other platforms), 100% of the monetization will go to the artist. I am happy with the satisfaction of seeing my world brought to life and believe the artist deserves full compensation for their labor.
What im looking for: I am seeking an artist with a style that can capture a cinematic, dark, and "lived-in" atmosphere. Whether you prefer a traditional manga style or a semi-realistic webtoon format, I am open to discussing what fits the tone best. While previous experience is valuable, it is not a requirement. I am primarily looking for someone who is passionate about the project and the dark fantasy genre.
