Hi,

I'm new to this site. I've just started publishing a comic and decided to join the forum. Is it normal to have to create a separate account for the forum? I thought, since I'm logged in to my tapas account, I'd already be logged in to the forum.

Yeah, the forum and regular tapas need separate accounts, most people make them identical though

Thanks! Another question. How do people promote their comics? I've read a bunch on this site, but I have no idea how to get eyes on mine. Is it usually through the forum? Since they're separate, I don't see how clicking on a profile will lead to anyone's comics.

I typiccly just join promos and leave a link to my comic.

Promotions are a whole category, typically you follow whatever rules the topic has and then you add a link. Try and stay away from sub4sub, though. Being active on the forum also helps, people who are familiar with you are more likely to see what your comic is about.

Thanks again. I saw your comic and subscribed. I like your style!

Edit your profile summary and put your links to your website, Instagram, Twitter, comic etc in the text (the website field doesn't link from mobile, not sure about desktop). That'll make it nice and low effort for anyone curious to check out your stuff.

I don't have any great advice about promoting but wish you luck and welcome!

Edit: I'm back upstairs and the link is fine, checked mobile again and it worked this time. Damn phone!! But either way yeah including the links in the summary makes them shiny and clickable, plus I think it's worth including more than just the link to your comic in case creators may not have time to add another comic but would maybe keep up with you through social media.

Most people use same/similar accounts, but i noticed few names here like " randomgirl552" i totally made this up btw, and their acc isn't connected to tapas acc

Yup! And this is pretty normal for many other writing sites I've found that also have forums. They always need a separate account. It's extra work to change it.
