you can keep the artifact mysterious by barely explaining it
my artifact is a spirit container from the endless forest, created by elvish craftsmanship, it is made from a certain rare fruit that is dried, carved and then magically engineered to be able to contain a spirit...as for getting the spirit, well that's another story.
Other forms of the spirit containers do exist in my universe, some metallic, some made from adobe...
the idea came from a genie's lamp and evolved to become something somewhat like a pokeball maybe.

This is kind of an artifact. It was presented on chapter 4 and used on chapter 8 by an antagonist.
It hasn't been relevant during the last 10 chapters, but it'll be eventually.

I haven't drawn it in months.

Sickboy has lots of quirky items, no ancient artifacts appear yet from memory however.

The most recent is this Billy the Viking Beaver keychain Evan picked up in the Gunnhildr High School episodes.
No mystery with this one, mostly a last-minute decision XD
Billy was made with intention of just being the school's mascot but had fun making this lil fella and wanted the artwork to stay throughout the series somehow, so had a last-minute idea to make it a 'cosmetic item' worn on Evan = keychain.
He currently has it attached to his bunny-bag (a previously acquired artifact)

Bonus:
Evan's Spit Swords would probably be ancient artifacts millions of years later XD
He can calcify his saliva into an impervious solid form, 'think diamond' and quickly craft daggers and swords for combat.
Once he finishes a kill he tosses them or leaves them stuck in the enemy.
I randomly had that thought while making this one scene: where his brother Owen (in 1st person) is washing away the remains of the monsters with a hose, only for Evan's spit daggers to remain: "ages from now someone walking by would see these little crystal-like blades all over the place" XD

I have a novel/new story coming in June (Phoenix of Ayre). It's a fantasy style story based on a quest for a sacred relic loosely based off the Holy Grail myth.

That relic is called the Fyre Chalice (the spelling is intentional)

In my story, no one actually knows what the Chalice looks like, if it exists at all, and there are numerous speculations/theories on what power it holds like maybe it grants the wielder fire powers/immortality, imbues objects with flames, turns ordinary eggs to Phoenix eggs, lets the wielder potentially destroy the world or heal it. Everyone does agree that it was once held by the ancient Fire God Phoenius (a Phoenix) and used it to create the world according to the Old Faith(fire-worship/magic).

There's been a few expeditions made in search of it, all failed for different reasons. Let's hope the schmucks featured in my story find it before the enemy does or there will be hell to pay XD

(there's another relic or two to explore later, right now this one's the focus of the first book)
