Random Fragment (some swearing):
K parks the car into the lot of the first bar they could find and continued. âI understand your case. But can one rarely blame the created for doing what the creators programmed them to do?â
The Auto Droid turned his head towards the brunette. âIt is like you said before. We are just machines. We donât think outside the parameters set by humans. We donât act outside of the laws humans built for us. We donât feel because we werenât programmed to and even if we were, could you call programmed emotions genuine ones? We are simply built to do what humans want of us. So that you all may live better lives. Couldnât you say any drawback of a human creation has, is simply an oversight by your species?â
âYou think it's our fault that people out there are suffering as a consequence of your existence and the actions of some rich assholes in a high tower!? That people like me have to go through so much shit because of things outside of our control,â Beatrice argues back. "I don't remember having a fuking say in your creation!"
âCouldnât I ask the same questions and they be just as valid,â K counters.
âDonât give me that shit. I have seen what you are capable of,â Beatrice yells back. âNot to mention all this crap that has been going on! Auto Droids growing a 'conscious' and deciding to kill and terrorize the first chance they get with their newfound âfree will!â You have ZERO excuses.â
âThese Auto Droids, are nothing more than defective. Either hacked or inflicted with some kind of malware by some unknown terrorist. They are not alive Ms. Moreau.â
Beatrice angrily turns her face away from the machine. âAnd whoever you think I was. Whoever you think I am. Itâs not me. I know what I am and what my purpose is. And that's to figure out why Auto Droids are going rogue and stop it. No matter what it takes.â
âAt least we can agree on your last statement, bot,â Beatrice mutters. She removes her jacket and leaves her weapon in the glove box then proceeds to open the passenger door and step out of the vehicle. âIâm going in. Alone. The people here wonât like seeing an A.D. walking around.â
âWith all due respect detective, I must protest.â
âI can handle myself,â asserts Beatrice. âYou are too obvious and goofy looking. Just sit there and shut up.â
âBut-â
âYou will adhere to this order until I return,â commands the woman with an annoyed glare.
âRoger," was K's monotone reply.
Beatrice closes the door and walks off. Disappearing into the pubs' entrance while K watches her fleeting form unwaveringly.â
