Share some things that inspire your writing/art

I'm going through some serious artistic burnout and frustration rn and trying to re-motivate myself. So I'm curious, what things inspire you?

I find I'm pretty easily inspired when it comes to prose. Songs, random things I see, life experiences, and conversations I have often inspire my writing. We have these really pretty birds in my country called garzas and they have inspired a TON of poems and essays that I've written.

But when it comes to my art, I pretty easily get burned out. Maybe it's because it's still pretty difficult for me, so I'm looking for some things to help me WANT to practice more.

I extensively study the works of artists I admire.

I deliberately try many different artistic styles, which can help change my mood and also allows me to discover new drawing techniques.

For my artwork music is a BIG one. I'll have some suggestions of some pretty varied songs from my playlist if you want to look them up at all;

My writing is a bit more different. A lot of it is inspired by life experience. Things I see, have gone through, things I hear... things I've attached myself to, which can be any kind of media. My novel (i haven't started posting at all yet) was heavily inspired by my favorite video game, but I'd never say video games are a huge inspiration in general, ya know? It's just all about what catches my attention which just means I'll pick it up from anywhere--- sometimes to a point I couldn't actually point to what inspired me.

I feel like I tend to create what I want to consume, If im looking for a specific type of book and its hard to find, I start writing. For art, I draw what I want to see. Its entirely a selfish endevor

It makes sense to write and draw that way, I think, that way you'll be passionate about what you create

Other art and stories can inspire my art.

I´m motivated to draw when I fall in love with the subject / when I´m emotinally really into
it / can´t stop thinking about it. Everything else will burn me out in the long run.

Another thing that inspires me is to something / someone really beautiful or ugly

I assumed, I'm pretty sure all of them but "I Don't Know How But They Found Me" have below 500k listeners on spotify, so they're not "big". Kind of why I picked them, new stuff can inspire. That and the wildly different vibes and genres.

And Burn the Ballroom is my favorite band (i was in their top 0.001% of listeners last year i think?) , I'd suggest giving "Kiss me you animal", "Crazy", and "Story of the End" if you wanted to try out their stuff. Those are my favorites.

I look for inspiration in my favorite comic books and animated movies/TV shows. If I can't figure out what to draw, I start doodling fanart. I also always listen to music when I draw. I will listen to anything, but sometimes I find instrumental is best for really concentrating. I like synthwave and fantasy-inspired music!

Last time I burned out/writer's block, I wrote the beginning of a story I knew I wasn't going to finish. Just gave free reign to my imagination. But I've done everything from taking a break, to reading non-fiction, to meditating and praying. Anything that gives my brain a break.
