For some strange reason, I can't wait for the day that Facebook finally crashes and burns. Even if the memes and general posting culture there is something I perceive as cancerous, I do not criticise that - it's just their thing that I will leave them to do.
What I'm most worried about is how non-chronological posts on one's feed are - Facebook is no longer about keeping up to date with the people around you, and has now become focused on entertaining people for as long as possible. This is an approach that I seem to see in every medium of entertainment I used to enjoy:
Youtube: Long gone are the days where it was a hub for whacky shenanigans and hilarious, intriguing, and unique material - now with the focus on monetisation and Youtube's focus on 'watch time', emphasising their fixation on cramming shit into people's mouths 24/7, content has become stale and mediocre. Boring channels that only involve people talking to the camera, as well as livestreams of people literally eating, are gaining traction and shitting up the whole place.
Because creators depend so heavily on Youtube's monetisation system, they end up becoming slaves to it, and are forced to create content that fits certain limits or status quos. Logan Paul is a piece of shit that makes shit content for shitty children, but Youtube doesn't care - due to his audience, he rakes in those views, and he rakes in that money. ļ¼§ļ¼Æļ¼¤ ļ¼¤ļ¼”ļ¼ļ¼® ļ¼©ļ¼“ļ¼
Anime: Good god, who knows what's even going in the anime industry. It is true that we have notable shows that come out every season, such shows being Devilman Crybaby, Violet Evergarden, Pop Team Epic, Kemono Friends etc., but despite that, they are mere gems in an endless sea of hot, steaming, rancid smelling loli trap but sniffing shit. The industry at its very foundations is shit - so many studios are branching out, making these tiny little studios that can barely fend for themselves and feed their animators, let alone make a good show.
They've become too dependent on their obsessive market, so much so that they feel too restricted to make anything interesting, in fear of losing their profit.
In short, I have a lingering sense of dread that seems to grow every single day. Brave New World is starting to sound somewhat plausible (though, to be fair, I've only read small snippets of the book and only have a very general grasp on the story oh what the hell this just invalidates my whole post please dismiss this post).
Also, Aniki's death has made me sad. Sleep tight, Aniki.
