i recently drew a page with my MC trying on some new clothes, and realised i had... no idea what kind of cool fantasy clothes people wear in cool high fantasies. and i have no idea where to look to find them.

so please, everyone, share your favourite fantasy costume inspo from movies, comics, cartoons, anything

Is your character male, female, willing to wear anything? This can help with the examples.

You can find a lot of references in games like final fantasy (the ones in medieval settings), from dungeons and dragons(they have amazing illustrations), Soulcalibur, Warcraft or Castlevania.

This is actually the main thing I like tumblr for. I haven't actually used this yet, but supposedly it's a great source for a large variety of non-modern-era clothing with tons of categories to browse.

It was suggested by Character Design Inspiration on tumblr, who are just generally awesome and interesting to follow.

Personally I get some inspiration from weird fashion blogs on tumblr. I just save gems whenever they pass me by to check back to later when I need an idea.

ah, ive seen osf costume rentals going around, and i tried getting inspo from them but found it kind of annoying. they dont have a lot of applicable stuff to my celtic-based story. but that blog is so useful, thank you!!

@DiegoPalacios i meant more along the lines of where youve seen in the best fantasy costuming in media that inspired you than specific examples for my scenario, so thank you for those examples!

the characters in my comic are gender neutral and/or women, with most clothing erring on the side of practical, and a lot of military gear. its set in ireland so like, celtic stuff. viking stuff works too.

Yeah that's Eileen the Crow, she's human and wears a crow mask.

But...but she looks like a plague doctor. I wanted her to have something to do with the plague. Then again Bloodborne is based on the black plague isn't it?

A plague of sorts? The lore is centered around a blood sickness that causes regular humans to go mad and turn into abominations that hunters are tasked to eliminate.

Oooh, well, if your setting has dragons, you can't be wrong by wearing their skin. Something like the dragoon outfit for final fantasy perhaps?.

I usually just use clothing from around the world, from different eras to vary it up. I know a lot of fantasy series do that like Zelda, it's a mishmash of international and european designs. I also just come across something online that peaks my interest or look at weird fashion shows for more bizarre costume ideas. Here's some I found interesting:
