You asked for romance and I got loads of them!
I was compelled to write Secunda because I wanted a female protagonist who wasn't afraid to explore her sexuality once she discovered it. I got tired of the chaste virgin type of character and wanted to make something different. I also wanted her to have different shades of "bad" boys to choose from while keeping them non-abusive and uncontrolling (though one nears that fine line because he's a monster that literally needs her to live). There are no milquetoast nice guys in my story, those just don't interest me.
And speaking of monsters, what ultimately planted this idea in my head was seeing a bunch of monster x human couples online, and I was compelled to take a stab at it. So this story truly is my most self-indulgent work, and it's my favorite to date. I liked it so much I'm writing sequels.
My most popular romance Heavy Horns was born from all the tropes found in BL that I was tired of. I wanted something "realer" even if it does involve a guy with bull horns. Plus I wanted to showcase some hairier men since a lot of mxm stories lack such characters.
Then there's Erie Waters. This one had a different beginning. It was initially a pitch to a queer comic anthology with a simple premise of a guy falling in love with a ghost. I was rejected but I liked my idea so much I expanded it into a full story!
And At Ease sprung from Erie Waters and turned into a little spin-off! Same premise, but different characters, dynamic, and setting.
For something smaller is my little zine about the Greek monsters Typhon and Echidna. I just wanted to make something cute about the couple, since they are sorely missing from all the Greek myth hubbub as of late.
Then finally my Christmas romcom A Haliday Christmas. I really wanted to put my own spin on the widespread holiday romcom fake-dating scenario, and I added my own cynical twist!
