Sorry to post this in the promotions section, but I can't log in to my account on tapas or forums. I had to literally go to my browser history from when I was logged in to even post this message, that's why I'm in promotions right now instead of a place more fitting. Can somebody help me? When I click on the login button in tapas, it takes me to the login screen, and it lets me do everything normally. But when I click the login button, it acts as if it's going to log in, but ends up spitting me back into the spotlight page logged out. When I tried to log in to forums to post this message in a more appropriate place, it opened a child window instead of planting me on the login page. I guess the child window is supposed to automatically log me in if I already have an account, which I do, but it totally doesn't work. I know that my account still exists, because my works still exist and when I use browser history like I did here it works, but I can't click on a button, or it tells me I'm logged out. Does anybody know a way to fix this?
Actually, I just used inspect, and I think what's happening is some kind of bug where part of the server think's I'm logged in, but I'm not. Any time I try to do an action like logging out, it says I have to be logged in to do that, but when I try to log in, it gets confused. It still thinks I'm logged in, so when I try to log in, it spits errors.
Ok, when I inspected the network traffic of logging in, it looks like Adblock Plus blocked something. So turned that off. When I delete my cache for forums, the child window allows me to log in instead of trying to automatically do it. It looks like my VPN is blocking something as well, so I'll fix that.
Ok so this is quite amusing, after watching the internet traffic I found out that my VPN and ad blockers were stopping it from adding cache and tracking and some other annoyingly complicated stuff. And that my browser was autofilling my account password but for some reason it thought this was tapas and not forums so it was filling with the wrong account. But when I deleted cache and filled it in with the correct login, my ad blockers and VPN blocked something else. And when I fixed that, I had to do the login process over again without my ad blockers and VPN blocking stuff. Because my computer wouldn't resend the request after changes for some stupid reason. Oh, and yeah I am going to have to this all over again for tapas so yeahâŠ
Well either way, never mind, I found out the issue myself after inspecting on a whim. Oh, and that whole thing about it thinking I was logged in when I wasn't. Yeah, I was wrong, just stupid speculation because it's a similar outcome if I was right. It was because my VPN didn't like the fact that it was trying to look at my IP and trying to get me to drink milk with my cookies. This all wouldn't have happened if I was the least bit smart in the tech field.
I also had to reload this tab so that it would receive the login I did in the other one, so now I'm not faking the use of my account by using my browser history, yay.
