What was the first spark that led you to write your story? Was it a scene, a character, or a ‘what if?’ moment?

In my case, it was the death of my cat. It made me realize how fleeting life is and how much those left behind suffer trying to pick themselves up. That's why the inciting incident is the death of the protagonist's wife, making every action and decision he takes based on that.

On top of that, I was tired of the same generic, copy-and-paste, isekai stories always feeling the same, so I made my story one too. Add elements of Modern Fantasy and a dozen other inspirations and you'll get The Ascendant's Path

I made my story to motivate myself to practice drawing more. it's about a girl who wants to make a comic strip and is trying to learn how to draw XD

Hi there!

I just wanted to share why I chose to write something with a touch of comedy. Life can be really tough sometimes, and when you’re going through hard times, even the smallest moments of laughter can feel like a lifeline. If my work can bring even a little comfort to someone else who’s struggling, then it’s worth writing.

Last year, I lost my dad and almost lost my brother. That kind of pain doesn’t just fade in an instant, it stays with you. But somehow, writing this novel became a way for me to cope. It gave me something to work and focus on, a reason to keep going, instead of letting myself drown in sadness.

If you’re going through something difficult, I hope this story can be a little escape for you, just like it was for me.

Alright, here we go. The first time I got the idea for this story was from a scrapped novel I intended to write years ago. It was about a snowman who wandered around blowing up buildings on the orders of a maniac who had a Hen of Eternal Youth. Unfortunately, due to events which were affecting the world at the time, I had to scrap it. Nevertheless, a lot of my ideas, like the snow world, came from that story, since I felt that nobody had really explained what happens to snowmen when they melt and where they go.
The reason I decided to make it a comic was after I read Stephen Collins' The Gigantic Beard That Was Evil. Before then, I had been dismissive of comics, but Collins' book opened my eyes to what the medium could do. Therefore, I took in all the great works of the art form - Watchmen, Raymond Briggs' When the Wind Blows, the rest of Alan Moore's body of work. These helped me decide that Nixvir should be a comic, that it should be a visual story for the medium of pictorial literature (which is a term I coined).
I decided to publish it online after some people rejected me for a podcast interview. It had originally been my intention to never show my "lockdown masterpiece" to anyone else, but I decided to get it published here anyway. I did it because I felt that the media I took in like films and television just weren't creative enough, and I wanted to do something different, to really do something ambitious.

I've had ideas for my story bouncing around in my head for almost ten years now, but what really made me want to start writing was my own wish for the story never to end. The power systems, characters, worldbuilding, all of it was initially inspired by my other favorite anime / manhwa / web novels, from which I wanted to create something that'd fulfill everything I've ever wanted from a series in a massive (and extremely long) story. At some point in planning out everything, I reached the end of my story, with nowhere left for the characters to go and no more development for anyone to go. All my characters had reached their end goals. That was when I finally decided to start properly writing my story, to re-experience everything about it that I've grown to love in full fleshed out detail while hopefully turning the story into something others could enjoy as well. Eventually, this feeling became one of the core motifs of the story itself: the actual process of rising to the level of what inspired you to start your journey.

The idea just popped into my head one day and I just couldn't ignore it! Though, admittedly, I rushed into writing it before I really got to working on the world or the lore but I'm hoping to reach out to readers who are willing to help me figure out if I'm doing well enough to convey everything properly and coherently

My older works were written as a way to steam valve my rage. Had too much of it back then...

But my newest work... seems like I'm just a channel being used by someone or something far greater than myself. My mind takes the back seat

I wanted a healthy outlet for my depression . I still have my bad days but writing is one of my ways of healing .

This story was originally a roleplay group on DeviantArt so many years ago. I don't remember how I came up with it, but I liked the idea of it so I decided to make it into a comic.

Basically it's about gods who play a game of cards using the classic playing decks. Kings, Queens, Joker, 2 of hearts, 8 of diamonds and so on. But each card in their hand represents a human chosen to fight in what is known as the ace wars. Each human chosen is a card type with it's own set of rules and powers.

Since I was working on a really dark comic ( CALM ), I wanted to balance it out by making something more adventurous and light. Though it does have dark themes in it every now and then, it's not as heavy as CALM.

my comic came originally from a few different dreams i had that inspired me! i wanted to make an actual story out of them, and i really got motivated while developing the characters Astrid and Stefan Siris as they both intrigued me quite a lot

I am into the isekai/reincarnation genre, so I decided to try and write my own novel.
I also wanted to give life to my OC's by writing their stories, not just keep them as drawings in some dusty folder on my PC.

I also have an idea on the back burner that I've been more or less woking on since for over 15 years. Might one day turn into a story, we'll see.

I first came up with the idea in high school. I was in a creative writing class and was assigned to write a fractured fairy tale, and Beauty and the Beast is my favorite. I already had my 5 girl characters and figured I'd use them.

There's a saying in my language: "FEITO é melhor que perFEITO", which translates to "What you do is better than perfection", using the fact the word for "do or done" is inside the one for perfect. Keep going, you'll figure things out.

I feel you. In a way, my own story is a way to handle my own depression. I hope you get better and keep writing.
