Neat! Jeramy works mighty hard, I expect that from a comics person ;B
Neat seeing how his first few projects started out. Were those comics Jeramy did a one-off series or are some still continued?
Oh dang! Did your other animation peers go through something similar? I know there are a lot of complicated feelings that happen after college, but I didn't know being burnt out for so long was one of them! Would you say that having a project like Oops got you out of that "burnt out" feeling?
Wew! Is Jeramy using the standard DC portfolio submission requirements (drawing varied characters, action+quiet sequences, animals, etc.)? What are they saying is missing before he's considered "hiring material"? :0
I've noticed that too (with the animations being done overseas). A lot of things are at stake with being an animator. Are other positions like being a storyboard artist also overseas? I think those are done inhouse.
Nice! An animated trailer would be so cool, kids would get hooked on that pretty quickly. Are there going to be voices in your trailer or is it going to be all music? :B
I'd really like that opportunity! We've been working a lot on our "con personality" I just really wanna put it to test!
The tough thing about local conventions in Hong Kong is that they're heavily fan-art oriented. The language barrier is tough too, most of the artists have to speak Cantonese and English to get by (and due to cultural upbringing, not a lot of talking and interaction actually goes on in the conventions, con-goers just buy merchandise and leave :b). It's gonna be so intimidating, but I really wanna get the hang of this!
me too lol. My comicsss, muh babiess.
Yeah Steven Universe and Gravity Falls are the biggest names, but not the only ones! Some of the really interesting animated shows are actually getting written by webcomic people! Wander Over Yonder is one I'd recommend, it's created by Craig McCraken <3 and some episodes are written by Noelle Stevenson (creator of Nimona!). I also highly recommend Frederator cartoons (on Youtube) that's where weird stuff like Bee and Puppycat, Bravest Warriors, and some one-off shorts got animated! What's suuuper fascinating about Frederator in particular is that they're actually scouting for a lot of webcomic peeps for material to make shorts out of (might totally be a longterm goal of mine to get them to notice meee).
Sweetness~ it's really cool seeing different reactions to stories in videogames. Especially since the gamers are putting in real effort (fighting minions and bosses) to get through the story. Some of the best stories I've ever consumed are from videogames. Don't know if there's a story that's beaten out Boishock yet, but maybe some day!
Aaw don't let that stop you from reading books! I totally get you, I've read some bad and terrible novels that ate up so much of my time. This one time I read a novel I was so hyped up for but got incredibly disappointed in (it dragged on and had a weak pay-off, like you said), but I took up another book immediately, and that book literally was my future favorite book! If I had given up reading I wouldn't have found it!
I've been eating up as many children's books as possible (I want to know what Tales from the Well is up against, lol), so far some good ones:
-Mockingbird by Kathryn Erskine
-The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry
-The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane by Kate DiCamillo
-The Sleeper and the Spindle by Neil Gaiman
-A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness (my all time favorite, I borrow a lot from it in terms of storytelling)
My sister and I like finishing up not-so-great books and discussing the heck-outta how it could have been improved. It's a really good writing exercise, since it's easy to point out how others did it wrong compared to finding it out in your own writing.
A lot of my artist friends get into Audiobooks. I think Audiobooks would have a nice future some day soon!
lol monster text posts are what I live for :B I really want to initiate a lot of discussion and interaction on these forums!
