I've been called '50 dollar massage' by two men in NY and my Thai gay friend had stunningly similar experiences as well. We were just college students back then. It was disgusting. People should stop sexualizing Asians. Atalanta spa shooting is the worst result of that hyper-sexualization culture.

I traveled a lot before Covid19 and same things happened in Canada, England, France, Spain... and so on. The weird thing is that my ginger Irish friend was also catcalled way too many times while we were in France. An Asian and a red-hair; the synergy was doubled. We talked to each other, "Is this because we're 'rare' things in this country?".

Ugh, I hate it when people sexualize a race. Not only is it rude, it makes us feel uncomfortable. There's that, and people making fun of our eyes.

Yet, there's the cat eye eyeliner trend and people pulling their eyes back as an aesthetic for their social media photos. It pisses me off that people will go and be racist and then use something from that same race. Like, hello? Most of your stuff is made in China, Japan, Cambodia, Malaysia, etc.

I am sorry some men don't know how to control their damn hormones and you got the bad end of the stick. It would seem that most men think they rule the world because they have a d*ck -_- I did not mean for that to rhyme, but you get the gist.

Looks like a thread where I can finally speak freely and not have white people talk over me. Let me begin with saying I'm of mixed blasian descent (mixed Asian/black for y'all) so unfortunately the trouble came from all sides, including within.

If its not the black side of my fam getting the heat, I will see it in my Asian side of the fam. The most infuriating thing I experienced was with a teacher. A biology teacher in insisted on singling me out after class, and smugly asked questions about my heritage (every white person will always ask me "where are you from?" like get a grip already) until he stopped at my mother. That bastard loved hearing she could not speak Dutch very well, and nodded "Ah that's right, she wouldn't would she" and now as a adult I would have shoved my heel up his ass.

That conversation haunted me for years, my fury over not having a proper reply ready for this idiot (I want to use a stronger word but yeah, minors) versus how many more would follow after him. The other time was with a intern at my job of all places, same nonsense, always wanting to know where I am from (you might as well have asked me if I belong there, christ) expecting me to be a model citizen while I'm BORN here. This country is mine too damnit.

I have more stories, and every single one of them makes me furious. I wish it would tone down, but so many things are happening in the world (okay and online) so I'm constantly confronted again and again.

Idk if this post is for people who experienced asian discrimination but I guess i'll put my two cents down. When I went to art high school, I was randomly accosted in the lunch room by a black girl hurling jewish insults at me, telling me I was taking their jobs. Later I found out she was the one who saved a picture of hitler on my computer. School couldn't do anything cause she never came to class anyway because of course. From that experience I kept experiencing racist comments not from neo nazis or white supremacists but from other racial minorities. Just goes to show racism isn't set in stone in who can do it and its very concerning of all people, it's your allies turning on you...

As for coping? I can deal with it but when I talk about it to other people, many times they don't care. I'm the one at fault not the people being racist. They usually go on a rant about how jews have biases and privileges we need to acknowledge because we don't "look" like regular minorities (I look stereotypically jewish) and "have high paying jobs" (yeah, sure jan).

Anyways, I am so sorry that you had to experience something like this. It is absolutely no one's business to know where you "really come from." Because America is a free-country, and as long as you abide by the laws, you're a citizen of said country.

Adults singling out KIDS because of their ethnic background~is absolutely disgusting. You can't really call them adults if they don't make good decisions, huh. If I were you, I'd plant my foot in his ass, but that's just my fight-or-fight response (lol I may or may not have trained in wrestling and judo for years). It is sad that America has not learned anything from the Holocaust. Being persecuted for absolutely no reason other than your race is disgusting. America preaches about being the land of the free and the home of the brave, yet racists cower behind their insults just because they don't like how we look and how we talk.

No, the racists are definitely at fault. They learned it from their momma, who learned it from theirs, and so on. And just because a minority has a high-paying job, does not make them any less of a minority, so it angers me that people think that we should just shut up and be grateful. It is so disrespectful that people think that we don't deserve the same kind of things the majority does.

I am sorry that you had to go through that. And thank you, for sharing your story with us. Hopefully, people read these and understand that racism and discrimination is NOT okay.

Good lord ain't that the truth. By now its a broken record and nothing you say or do makes them see like you're one of them, its always like we cannot be seen as citizens from the same country (and being allowed to celebrate our culture of course!). In my case it all happened in the Netherlands (where I'm from :D) but uh...this country has a LONG way to go.

Right?? Thinking back an adult using this nonense on a child is just... I really should've shoved my entire foot up there. XD

I talked to some people and they say a lot of angry sentiment comes from people who see jews in the media with high paying jobs and are not educated on them or their culture and forget they helped together with many activists to fight for civil rights.

Holyyy that pisses me off. I actually used to want to be blasian when I was younger because I thought they were so pretty, and I still do. That's upsetting to hear and I'm sorry you had to go through it. It really sucks to be a minority.
