Some advice from an old Peter, who can be called Pete:
Draw it with your (at the moment) limited skills.
Everyone starts with not being able to draw when they
first grab the pencil. It took me 10 years to get mediocre
at drawing and I teach kids how to draw comics now.
They all start at the same level and the ones who finish
their comic get better. The one who don´t finish their comics
don´t get better. It´s really as simple as that.
Unpaid collaborations on long term projects don´t work.
It´s hard to even finish one page of an unpaid collab.
