Shorter comic & manga series/graphic novels?

I don't know what kind of genre you prefer, but these are my favourite shoujos. Okay, Chobits isn't shoujo I think.

Godzilla: The Half Century War by James Stokoe is five issues. The Shadow Hero by Gene Luen Yang and Sonny Liew is a standalone graphic novel.

I recently read "All you need is kill".
It's only two books and it's way better than the movie!

This one is more of a graphic novel, "Brody's Ghost" by Mark Crilley. Not complete yet, but I'm pretty sure it ends at 6 volumes, and vol 6 comes out pretty soon.

I ended up getting a 2 in 1 version and I thought it was on going. So I was real surprised by the end of it haha.

I know Blame! isn't very long either. I think it's 10 volumes...
I like this one but the story gets are to follow as it goes.
I ended up just admiring the art and the cool actions scenes.
I'm still trying to find meaning in it all!

I recommend reading Iwaoka Hisae's work - I think the only one published in English is Saturn Apartments, which is 7 volumes long. I'm a big fan of another of her series - Hoshigahara Aomanjuu no Mori - but I think that one might only be out in Swedish, not English. I also recommend Aki Irie's Ran to haiiro no sekai - which is planned to end with volume 7. Again, I don't know if it's released in English, but it's worth looking up for the artwork alone, which is gorgeous.

If we're talking graphic novels instead of manga, I recommend I Kill Giants. The artwork might put you off at first (it's kind of sketch-y), but it's a really, really good story.

Oh, an interesting on going manga (that I consider as a short serie for now) is Bride stories (Otoyomegatari). It's set in the Turkish Central Asia in the 19th century, where you follow mainly Amir, Karluk and Mr Smith's lifes. As it's historical, a lot of change is going to happen, plus Amir and Karluk got their own problems.
So much work in there, I find it beautiful too

Ooh, you're right. It is 7 volumes long for now but I followed it by chapter. Maybe its pacing gave me the illusion that it was super long. Nevertheless, it's a good read

it seems that there are lots of suggestions here so i won't post too much.
these are some of the promising ongoing ones:
1. Boku no Hero Academia - Action, Comedy, Fantasy, School Life, Sci-fi, Shounen - 4 volumes
it's about a school of heroes.
2. Owari no Seraph - Action, Drama, Mystery, Shounen, Supernatural - 8 volumes
it's about the earth which is ruled by vampires.

these are the completed ones:
1. Steins;Gate - Drama, Mystery, Romance, Sci-fi, Seinen - 3 volumes
it's about time machine and John Titor.

man, looking for less than 10 volume mangas is hard.

tell me if you like webtoons/manhua/manhwa. i have some good ones. that's if you still want more tho (most of them are ongoing btw).

@Jrej mentioned BLAME and I agree! Art is very, very good. Story is kinda weird though. Stuff by Kui Ryoko is nice - her short stories are really weird. Terrarium in Drawer is complete.

Can I recommend AKIRA? I mean, it's 6 volumes but each chapter is really long (⊙_☉) Also, Kaneda and Tetsuo are more assholey in the manga than in the movie, but Kaneda improves!
