It depends what you want to achieve.
If your goal with the project is, "I want to make money making content", then making comics is only a good idea if you don't mind adding "eventually, maybe" onto the end. It'll take a while to get up to the sort of standard where you can realistically earn money, but getting started making comics, even if you plan to eventually transition into a writing role, can be a good thing to do if your aim is to make comics. Writers who understand basic things like pacing and panels are easier to collaborate with. If making money in a more immediate way is important, however, then you should focus on a type of content you're more experienced in or more able to make to a high quality with the skills you have.
If the goal is "I want to make comics because comics are fun and it's a way to express myself and feel like part of a community", then the answer is simply, yes. Go make comics. You don't have to be top-tier pro quality to enjoy something.
