So, I went through this already with two other platform closures with my story. I was writing on Kindle Vella and got about half way through the novel. I was using a serial editor, and it was coming out good. Then, Kindle announced a closure. I basically pulled it down, and decided to move it to a new platform to finish it. I was selected to post it to Radish, because you had to submit there first. Once accepted, I was a happy camper, writing along when I was 3/4 done with the novel, Radish's closure was announced. So, I decided to finish it there, posting for people following there so they could use up their coins. But also, letting people know that I was moving to Tapas.
Once I finished "Love Over Kpop" on Radish, I waited a month and then began moving the episodes over to Tapas, going through and doing final edits, polishing, adding a few extra episodes, and finished it again. I finished "Love Over Kpop" end of February this year. It was a great feeling getting the novel finally done. I was thinking of next steps for it, maybe a sequel and a print edition/ebook for the first book, when the closure of Tapas was announced. I'm continuing with the next step of publishing an ebook/print edition. I'll have to rewrite it back into chapters, but I'll still have the serial edition. I have it already saved, but I'll pull down the Tapas edition and keep it separate as a reference. I have each edition of the novel through all the different platforms and drafts.
Meanwhile, I've also been writing on Wattpad for 12 years. I have a finished novel there, and another one that I'm in the process writing which is a paranormal ghost hunting book. I've been using Wattpad for my basic sandbox for works, and sometimes, turn them into longer projects. So, I'm not really planning on going on a new platform for now. I don't want to try to learn a whole new system, build an audience, etc. I'm going to stick with my ebook fans and Wattpad followers for now.
My advice, think about your next steps for your project. Do you want to finish it as a serial novel or as a regular novel? Since it has already been on the internet, traditional publishers won't want to accept it as much because it's already been self-published in parts. But you could move it to a new platform and finish it. Finishing is the BIGGEST STEP. Once you have a novel complete, there are so many more things you can do with it.
Best of luck. I hope all of us Tapas writers are able to find good homes to continue our writing journey.
