Should I merge some of my chapters together?

I already have them like that on a different platform and it seems to flow better but I would lose precious comments from people and that hurts my heart 🥺

Should I just merge them and have it flow and just take the loss?

I think the common opinion on Tapas is to keep the chapters short and sweet because it’s typically a younger audience with the attention span of a golden retriever on meth reading on their phones. With that in mind you might prefer to keep them separate.

Personally, when I read I read, and I like big, meaty chapters. My own stories typically tickle the 15k character limit of a Tapas episode, in fact I often have to edit them down to get under that 15k. I just don’t like breaking off on the middle of a plot point, even though this is what Tapas encourages. Even worse, I’d feel guilty if I only dropped a few paragraphs after making my readers wait a week for an update.

I feel the same way. I started with shorter ones and then they got progressively longer (but all around the same length after that).

I am the type to merge my chapters together BECAUSE I HATE THE YOUTH

jk I don't lol but I have always written with a manga style of chapters/pacing so the short and sweet updates do not sit right with me for long term lol

I totally get the comments thing though, but honestly, I just copy pasted the comments into a word doc so I can look at it on a bad day XD

If you want to be "popular" on tapas, I think the consensus is to have short chapters but its ultimately up to you

I feel like Tapas' interface is good enough such that it's not that annoying to have fragmented chapters if you're bingeing, bc the next one just loads when you scroll down The problem is when updating new chapters; it's annoyin to read the latest update only for it to leave off in the middle of nowhere T_T Is why I'm a binger in the first place; the first webcomics I followed tended to update a page at a time and so reading each update as it came out was profoundly unsatisfying :'D
