Hi, thank you for clicking on this topic!I started a comic recently, but now I'm going to focus on making the next chapter's thumnails and the reference sheets of some of my characters. It could take me a lot of time and I don't want to stop uploading content for so long.Should I post my characters' reference sheets on a new series?
Hey there! It's not really clear from your post what your question is. Are you asking wether you should create character sheets at all? Or wether you should upload the sheets (as you're going to be creating character sheets either way) and just don't want there to be a pause in your uploading schedule?I personally don't care for character sheets and think the author should be able to portray all the information provided in character sheets naturally as part of the story. I see character sheets something that the author can create for themselves as a reference while drawing or writing dialogue. If you're creating the sheets for personal reference I'd make them low priority and try and finish them on the side while working on the actual comic pages. You can use your previous pages for reference while you're working on the sheets after all.But this is my personal preference so you might end up getting completely opposite replies in this thread. : )
I don't do this, because it could be a spoiler for my readers
It's like what @caelesc said about it being a reference for the artist instead of the reader
But in the other hand, it can be good in case you want to make an art book of your comic ^^
@dam-fly Only post things that are not spoilers, like rejected sketches or ideas or practice runs of sketch.
I have a separate comic called "Production Notes" for my novel series, so readers can see the character designs and the full versions of the art for my banners. It's been fun to make; I plan to do it for all my future novels. ^^
It might be a good idea if you have a large cast, that way people with poor memory like me can find the characters’ names easily by visiting the character sheet. I wouldn’t recommend going all out on the details and personalities, though. Your story should cover that.
It's the second one. And well, now that I think about it, there are some characters that I should keep away from the public until they show up in the comic. Thanks!
The comic has got two protagonists, nearly ten characters who are very important too, some secondary characters and a cat. They're not too many characters, but they are still a lot. I'm trying to make them recognizable because of that.
Then yeah, I would suggest posting the character reference sheets, just for the sake of keeping track of everyone's names.
