Should I put my comic on here, genre-wise?

So I'm looking for places to post my web comic as I've got a bit of a backlog made, but as I explore this site it seems like it's mostly romance/"BL" (the fact that I don't know what that stands for is probably indicative that it's not for me or my potential readership lol).

My web-comic is about a mercenary Air Corps set in the future; basically, sci-fi fighter pilots in the tropics. I don't see anything here like that. Should I even bother, or should I just start on webtoon or some third site?

What you're looking for are most likely either science fiction or action genres and I don't think you'll be that much better off going over to webtoon as they seem to have a similar focus (my guess being because of bigger female audience for webcomics than traditionally printed comics)

What have you really got to lose? worst case scenario no one reads it which i highly doubt so yes i think you should still post regardless.. not a lot of people on here i've seen focus on that type of genre but that does not mean you cant be the first person to introduce it. not too long ago we didn't have a LGBT section and now we do and thats due to demand.

i personally think on a broader scale. and i believe it's good to explore your options. post in several sites and see what works. you can ask all the questions you want and you will get different reply however, you wont truly know whats good for you until you try.

BL am standing for male-on-male romance. Am having nothing to do with NAMBLA.

Tapas am having more than just romance comics. Me personal bookmark folder am attesting to that. Action, sci-fi, fantasy. Many, many comics that kick ass and am go boom. You mebbe have to go looking however.

Many comic artists also post to Webtoons. Sometimes mebbe they jump ship entirely. But Webtoons am no have forums or community, or at least it am having smaller community.

I don't see any reason why you shouldn't put your comic on here. Everyone comes here for a different reason. Everyone has different tastes. Personally, I come for the comedy and slice of life genres. My own comic is a slice of life comedy about a bar owned by a disabled veteran, far from BL.

I'm sure that there are many people who come to this site for sci-fi comics. It's just a matter of finding that audience at first. Best of luck to you!

Go for it!, who cares if Sci fi is not the current trend?, if your story is good, you will get an audience.

There are comics like this here, really. Tapas promotion and search is just very... selective =) Maybe try posting on Webtoons too. But yeah, the worst case that no one will ever see you, but most of "third sites" will hardly be better.

Being in a genre with a small population isn't always bad. I'm in the Action section and I get to trend on the front page of my category every time I update. Sure, there are fewer people looking on Tapas for action or Sci-Fi than BL, but the people there are are ravenous for new content because there's not a lot of it, so if you make a good comic in an underpopulated genre, you're a big fish in a small pond.
If a person is looking for BL and you have a BL comic, the chances of them finding yours are very slim, there's just so much choice, but if a person is looking for Action and you draw Action, the chances they find your comic are pretty high, so even though fewer people are looking, a much higher proportion of those people will find your work.

So my advice is, go for it. Make a comic you're passionate about and know you can make a good job of. The audience is smaller, but they won't take you for granted.

As someone who is kinda tired of reading romance, I beg of you to put some action sci-fi on this site. The only way this one-note tide can turn is if we bring more stories. Although Tapas doesn't have as many sci-fi compared to the romance genres, there's still more readership here for sci-fi than smaller webring type sites that only do sci-fi comics. The traffic is here, although you do have to take the time to bring it here from using twitter and other social media.

Honestly? The fact that the genres you need are in the site means that it's worth trying it, don't get carried away by what the site is trying to promote you. Just do it. We need more variety than less, after all.
