Excuse the blab, I rarely get asked about these things;
Sadly the free time to run a comic just isn't something I have ATM. I've been browsing the forums and other webcomic sites for the past few-months-to-some-years to try and suss out the lay of the land. (Or at least looking for the map to Tapastown.) I'm hoping that when that free time finally arrives later this year I can hit the ground running.
For standalone pieces like the above the main influence is actually Norman Rockwell. He was excellent at portraying normal folks doing normal things. And at extraordinary people doing things that should be normal. I always want to show tiny stories like that.
The style is me doing what I've always done since I was a kid, but just trying to do it better each time. I do have a tonne of artists that have influenced my sense of aesthetics, but I haven't tried to emulate any of them in a long time. If it's not a straight up fanart then it's a nod like the above.
Anyway, I just noticed as I'm finishing writing this that this is the Writing/Novels subforum so I kind of derailed the thread by being inattentive and sharing art. Thanks for asking though.
