This is something I showcased in my Extras series recently. My series "Jonny Comic" actually started life as a 6-issue mini series during High School. I redid the first two issues as Book 1 for the webcomic and the cover pays homage to the cover of the first issue.
The left image is the original cover made back in late 2011 with micron pens and a small knowledge of Photoshop. The right is the revamped cover made all digitally in early-mid 2014 (my sister inked/colored the cover). Since Books 1-3 are essentially retellings of the original series I made in HS I'll occasionally be showcasing more old vs new pages in my extras series.

@shaylafarley5 I was thinking about this deviantArt meme ! You began to do backgrounds really soon It's the second time I talk about backgrounds in this topic, but i'm always amazed, because I always did illustrations with no real backgrounds when I was younger, I couldn't get the perspective right, so it was... shadows of things in the background... Well, i'm amazed. Good work anyway

Going through some of my first pages of comic is now a little painful.
I have changed style quite a lot and am now working all digital (instead of layering in Mspaint :-S)

2015

2012 was when I wanted to start developing away from anime/manga art... not that I don't like certain anime and manga styles now, but I suddenly became obsessed with anatomy and portrait studies and drawing real peoples' likenesses and things like that. Now I'm really focused on trying to draw semi-realistic faces and anatomy without strictly adhering to any references. It's an especially useful skill for me because I have specific mental images of my characters' appearances, and I can't find 100% perfect references for them. I probably do way more technique practice and studies than actual pieces, but I'm having fun lol~

With those skills you can make a living doing commision work for caricature!

Color is definitely helps defining what's happening. Glad I chose that.

It is my first experience with digital coloring though and it's been tough..
The more I draw the faster I go but it took me several days per page at the beginning... :-S

Ok I actually put this together back in January and posted it on my deviantart. It's the same character drawn at different times. I'd say I've improved :3
