ooooh - this is the worst for me because im a massive one for spreading out my descriptions through text, so I'm gonna write one for casper because I never really describe him at all!

People didn't look at Casper, not unless it was to stare in that way that wormed beneath his skin. The scars did it: three gnarled twists, the relic of knife wounds that twisted over a sharp cheekbone and down to pouting, dusky lips - one beneath another, dull white slashes against his sallow olive skin.

A lot of people would lessen them, shelter behind an obscuring curtain of hair, but fuck that. Casper's whole existence was a snarl against the world, and he bared those scars with glee - black hair pulled back in a rough cut that never sat right, sheared short on the sides and hanging overgrown at the top.

His dark eyes made glowering black holes as they glared out at the world, cradled by doey lashes and the etched bruises of sleepless insomnia. He wore black on black on mismatched black, layers of coats and hoodies and tight jeans huddled against the cold that ever wriggled through the gaps into his short, scrawny frame. The hidden t-shirt bore strange geometric pattern that winked its illuminati eye at the sky.

The only brightness on him was the silver piercings in his nose and ears that winked at the world beneath a neon glow.

Jake’s first impression of Damien

Damien was tall and built sturdy. Probably did some kind of sport with that physique. He seemed to have a permanent glow about his tan skin considering it was January. His dark hair was undercut and the part left longer on top curled slightly.

He assessed his closet somewhat critically before sighing again and putting on the same thing he always wore; a band tee, skinny jeans, converse, and, of course, his hoodie.

“I didn’t realize you were part... Japanese?” I took a stab in the dark, feeling proud of myself when he nodded.

Jake, apparently, never feels the need to describe himself, and Damien is more focused on other things (like why Jake is constantly hurt ) to give Jake a full-blown, conscious visual assessment there’s tiny little bits woven into the story like @sxxaint was saying

Gosh, I am too young to meet men at funerals. Actually, I am twenty-four, so maybe I am on the tailend of being too young for anything. But not a wizened crone yet ether.

Regardless, it hits me like a truck at the line that cuts off the bright Californian sun from the mysterious interior of the church: he is not like me and I am not like him.

And we freeze in the doorway, eyeing one another, absorbing our differences, the mob hitman Matteo Scali and me, a poor, obscure, plain and little florist, who dreams big.

So, for my main character, I went for a more action-based description, instead of presenting the character like if I presented a picture I decided to show her through actions in the story, letting the reader fill the character appearance and details for now, at least.

Hope was fast and engaged Federica, the giant, face to face, they were like two titans clashing for supremacy, while Nico and Sherezade engaged their longtime rivals, Sebastian and Luna, the Burners of Books. Tom, on the other hand, faced the diarchy of the Rats, Lupe and Lepu.

Kôra awoke with a gasp, jolted into a sitting position on his bed. Cold sweat ran down his freckled cheeks, and further soaking his gray nightshirt. His heartbeat was rushed, pounding inside the right side of his rib cage. The boy looked around — he found himself again in this bedroom, with a recurring sense of displacement. That nightmare was something else, Kôra was wary to even blink. A certain something was watching him; he knew it. Once he closed his eyes, it could get him at any time. It was this unknown yet persistent feeling that kept him awake for days, as made evident by the dark circles under his eyes. Every passing second dragged like an ominous minute.

It's a Mystery (Spy sub-genre) & after speaking to people in-the-know while researching, it seemed more authentic that way.

I know it's risky, but now I expect pushback from all those readers conditioned for the exact opposite .... so what the hell

Alright, there's are going to be some long blocks of text, but I like being thorough in my descriptions.
First: Sky Garden Genre: High Fantasy Medical Drama
1st: Lenovard Paskal: or Leon.
He is shorter, extremely pale because he's from the northern kingdom with knee length black hair, he's a Sky-Elf meaning that his elf ears has a fringe of feathers off their edges and he has wings, he has white feathered wings and matching frills on the ears, wears flamboyant makeup and clothing, he's blessed with magic giving his skin a golden sheen and bears a golden marking of his goddess over his sternum shaped like a chalice with two handles and wings off them. His family lives in the middle of nowhere of their kingdom and are griffon breeders because the world they live in has all of the land floating in the air instead.
2nd: Xixziss Zuxxruth. Pronounced: Ik-Z-is Zoo-s-ruth, she goes by Izzy or Ixy (Iks-z)
She is the root of Leon's visions, the person the visions were pointing him to. She is a doctor with powerful necromancy magic and a huge family. She is half-Arvid, Arvid being a race I based on DnD being human sized bird people, the usually have bird heads, wings and everything like that, but she is a half-Arvid meaning she looks human with bird feathers like her legs, wings and body markings. She is a vulture type Arvid, so she's very tall and lanky, white hair, no brows and sharp teeth, a white marking around the collar like a vulture's ruff and tattooed, long black bird legs, a gravely voice and always dressed in black and uses a large staff walking stick with a lantern hanging from it.

Second: Deathblooded Genre; High Fantasy Graphic Horror
Only one main character:
Aram Devilitor: pronounced A-rom Dev-ill-ataur. This is not her birth name, but spoilers. so I'll leave readers to learn that. She is a classic beauty for the kingdom she is from: large upturned almond shaped eyes in this piercing turquoise color, but she has slit pupils, caramel toned skin, but her magic makes it flash white or see through at points, she has short cut black hair shaved on the side and the rest flopped over to that side, a massive scar through the right eye, heavy brows, broad of body and her body is covered in endless swirls and patterning of pure darkness, her hands are too long and distended looking, silver talons and marks her magic, she has regal features to her face, but is always seen in all black and most often in a full suit of black armor and often times a mask, armed with a great-sword, a longsword, a short-sword and dagger, she can summon a horse of darkness named Omen to help her on her pursuit to kill everyone who had a part in the siege of her kingdom.

3rd: Rain Genre: Science Fiction Futurism Romance
1st: Rain Shellwalker. This story takes place on an Earth where global warming caused all of the biomes of the world to become extreme examples of what they are, leading to humans having to adapt their DNA with genes taken from animals who live in those environments. Rain is from the ocean city/country leading his family to be based on a fish, the oar-fish to be specific. He is taller, heavily tanned with ankle length beachy waved black hair, lavender eyes with oversized pupils, his body is covered in turquoise, black and white scales, his hands and feet are webbed and he has gills on his ribs, he has a frill down his back with the matching streamer of an oar-fish and finned ears. Covered in piercings, dresses in barely there clothing because of where he's from and loves everything to be colorful and shiny.
2nd: Scarlet Firestorm. Rain's fiancee and from the desert city/country, her family was based on horned vipers. She stands nearly seven feet tall with pale skin caused from her home being mainly underground, covered in black, maroon and red scales, long dyed red hair, golden eyes with slit pupils with a pair of ram horns off her temples, huge fangs, forked tongue, lizard like feet with digitigrade legs, long snake tail, her brows are made of scales and dresses in all dark colors, heavy goth makeup and a love of leather/latex fashion.

4th: The Weirdos in 1642 Genre: Low Fantasy _Goth Drama/Comedy with heavy romance
1st: James Smile, he's 21, a bit shorter, tanned and freckled, long ginger hair, glasses and green eyes with a gap in his front teeth, very slight in his figure and always wears long sleeves, he is meek and quiet, but opens up quickly about his rocky family life to his friend and later girlfriend, Raven.
2nd: Raven Seltsam. She's 23, a bit taller, pale, but freckled, dark blue eyes, black hair, dimples, pierced and dresses in a Goth style and never seen without high heels on, always in sleeves, parasols and sunglasses because of her allergy to sun light, a few tattoos and her personality is a full 180: she is extremely chipper, happy-go-lucky, and all around sunshine and rainbows, albeit a very dark sense of humor and a quick wit, loves snakes and spiders, a historian for weaponry and like her family...she has a secret that she and her family keep very, very private.

5th: Paradise Academy Genre: Low Fantasy Magic College Slice of Life +POC LGBT MC
Only MC: Kain Shepperd. He is 18 years old, brand new to the magical school after a strange letter about his late-mother appears saying he has been given a full ride to the school. He is extremely petite, deep rich toned skin, black hair and in extremely tight kinky curls, brilliant blue eyes, delicate features and usually dressed nicely, loves gold jewelry and anything glittery or shiny. He is very sweet and kind, but antsy and a bit paranoid because of his mother's death, he is responsible for taking care of his dad after his father had a mental breakdown from his mother's death and looks forward to learning about who she was and why he can do what he can do.

Lastly: Shrouds and Stilettos. Genre: High Fantasy LGBT Romance
1st: Vala'kharna Nolokt Forthun Deskarta Edensmarsh Von Calasma, or just Vala or Val, Khan by his fellow soldiers. He is half-dragon and half high-elf, 160 years old, but looks in his 20s. He is quite tall, but icy bone white pale, covered in scales of black, grays and ashen tones, extremely muscular, dragon like features, neon green eyes with slit pupils, huge horns, long white hair, sharp teeth, snake tongue, wings and tail, lizard feet and always dressed in armor or finery from his title of being a prince. He is a ruthless soldier, a studious prince and beloved by his people, he is a romantic with a very heavy love for men of fey races.
2nd: Nevissa Haviesha Moltata, prince of the kingdom of Xator. He is a 20 year old fairy/human hybrid, so he is very short, long hair, dark brown upturned eyes, pristine skin with a golden sheen, tiny hands and feet, dresses very girly, flamboyant and colorfully, loves makeup and floral patterns, lots of jewelry, heels and always proper looking and is fairly tanned. He is a hopeless romantic, obsessed with stopping the war between the two kingdoms, falls in love quickly with Vala and the two plan to wed to stop the war finally and to stop the bloodshed. He loves animals, plants and keeping the peace in his kingdom, a very people's prince kind of figure.

Alright, sorry for the huge post. I have a lot of books and most often have 2 MCs because of most of them having a romantic connection to the story line. Check out my books if you are interested, but you don't have to if you don't want to.

Seven years ago, everything started. I left home, barely ten years on my shoulders, innocent, curious as I would continue to be. With cyan crystals in my eyes, I waved my father goodbye. My older siblings had all left by that time, my eldest returned not long after I did too. Father, black-haired with the same eyes, had smiled. A mix of happiness and sadness. Happy because his youngest son was starting the journey of his life. Sad because my mother wasn’t there to see me off. My carriage started moving and I squeezed my teacher’s hand, its color resembling the most beautiful of ebony, in anticipation.

I had not known anything back then. The world was a mysterious place, the sky was a vast sea of the unknown, its stars meant to lead me to a future my mother would have wanted for me.

I didn’t get that future. Not as pleasant, though not the cruelest of all. Cyan crystals now filled with tears, one drop more painful than the previous. That stream, that waterfall never stopped completely and years passed. My once fair skin was painted into a dark brown by the endless suns. Scars were born. My silver hair grew longer and longer, my clothes hugged my body tighter. One thing didn’t change. My smile.

(Somehow, I just really like the way this flows. Ya know, a quick description is always good, though Zian himself likes to spend several moments to describe other people in his head.)

The two main characters in my BL enemies-to-lovers romantic fantasy meet first as children. This part describes when they first meet up again as adults.

“Toom?”
My name was drawn out in the Rakim accent, but the voice was familiar. And I knew only one man from Rakim who would forgo the honorific and call me simply Toom.
Before I even turned around, I said, “Hello, Niako.”
It was a good thing I spoke before turning because after turning, my breath froze in my lungs. In the flickering light of the streetlamp overhead, his dark clothing and dark skin and hair created fascinating long lines, and the white of his eyes, his teeth, and his tunic glowed. But what really stole my breath was the way his dark eyes studied me, dragging his gaze slowly from head to foot and back up as though uncovering a fascinating new discovery. When his eyes met mine, he raised an angular black eyebrow.
“You look… different,” he said.
Even in the dim lamplight, certain differences would be obvious. I had grown to over six feet — a couple inches taller than him, by the looks of it — and years of hard training had covered my broad shoulders and arms in solid muscle mass. Sun-streaked blonde hair and bronzed skin highlighted my blue-green eyes. I had been told many women and men in Fooja found me attractive, but Niako’s eyes and voice felt more speculative than admiring, like a physician examining unforeseen changes in a patient.
“And you look exactly the same.”
It wasn’t quite true, though. His long-lashed gaze and high cheekbones still oozed arrogance, and he remained tall and slim. However, lean muscle now stretched across his long limbs in perfect proportion, and where his tunic hung open at the top, a few curly black chest hairs caught the light. He looked… good Goddess, he looked stunning. Too perfect to be real.
I tamped down that thought immediately. No good would come from thinking like that. Not here in Rakim lands, and especially not about Niako.

Here's my MC (the hero, really, it might be arguable the MC is the anti-villain in this story lol!) Brok. Here's a quote from the webtoon/webcomic Scion of Loki - "My body is trembling. I'm terrified. The villagers watching from the top of the wall will think it's with excitement. That's why I have to plaster a smile on my face. When my people see me smiling while I fight they feel reassured that everything will be okay. I can't let them down. They believe in me. I fight to protect everyone in the village and the people I love."
