Have you ever come up with any weird worldbuilding theories while you're watching a show or reading a book? Bonus points if the theory is more entertaining than the original premise. Like, in the Adam West "Batman", I am convinced that the henchmen have a union and get extremely good health benefits. I'd also imagine there are henchpeople garages for each villain's unique vehicles, tailors to cover their henchmen's wardrobe needs, and realtors to find their lairs. Each episode generally features a solo villain and every villain seems to have a plethora of henchpeople. In the Adam West feature-length movie, it shows the henchmen hanging out together and one of Penguin's henchmen recognized Catwoman so it's safe to assume that he knew her. Maybe they've worked together?
Considering the villain is always apprehended that's going to leave a lot of unemployed henchpeople. Even villains who only recently become villains somehow always have henchmen on their first heist. The logical conclusion, they hired them from an employment agency or contracted with a union.
Do you guys have any random theories like this? Feel free to share.
