Sketches and Concept Art

I was looking through some of my sketchbooks and found a few sketches I did prior to starting Redux.
Most were either too messy or too spoilery to share, but here are a couple that I really like.

Does anyone else have concept art or sketches of their work they'd like to show?
I really love getting looks into people's creative processes and seeing the 'messier' or weirder drawings that people make sometimes.

Here's an extremely ancient pic of Amara, an early bust doodle + sussing out personalities listing for no good reason, aaaand some tattoo reference because almost everybody in this thing got ink.

This is a drawing i did a while back and this one happens WAY ahead of the series but it's about the mc and his rival stuck in the middle of a deep canyon and they both screwed up by saying something to each other neither of them can take back, so they both split. The mc manages to survive well on his own but the rival character not so much. He lucky just gets worse and worse. After a few days of being stuck in the canyon, the mc explores the canyon by making a raft. And during his exploration, he sees the rival character out on her own next to her crushed shelter and crying in agony. The mc didn't pay much attention to her. Though he felt sorry for her, he was still mad at her and rowed through the river. But after a while of contemplating, he turns and takes her back to his camp which is the small island with the giant tree. All while a storm was brewing

Been working on a new story so I've been in the very sketch concept art phase, trying out different types of eyes and shapes to see what fits with the story and tone I've written.

been really struggling on whether or not the dude should have slanted eyes or not. He's not human...but the slanted eyes make him rather Alucard so I'm still vascillating. I have just pages of eyes for this guy and eh I dunno. I keep drawing him like a pervert by accident.

I've also been researching a lot on Lolita fashion, because the girl is into that fashion...so I went on such a youtube deep-dive of Lolita and there's some really good spicy tea out there. Wow. That scene has a Lot of Drama. Anyway, I spent way too long playing with fantasy/lolita dresses trying not to get too cliche angelic pretty ripoffs.

But none of these are at all good for a comic because y'all that's too many folds and details. I will die.

And then just trying to figure out style. What style should I color it? Cell shaded? Painted? Still unsure since I keep adding too many details to the designs and realistically I'm gonna have to edit like...so much of this.

I have no sketches to share but I just want to say that I love what I'm seeing so far. Some of the sketches are simply beautiful. There is something about unfinished sketchy artwork that just looks pleasing to me.

Very early design concept for what young prologue Rekki was going to look like. She was originally more intense looking and prettier, more like adult Rekki, but then I was like "nah, baby Rekki is totally this dorky exciteable little tomboy". Also for some reason a running trend in these sketches will be SWORDS ON THE WRONG SIDE. Rekki is, of course, left-handed, so her sword is always on the right.

Concepts for adult Sarin with... THE SWORD ON THE WRONG FREAKING SIDE AGAIN AAGH. But some fun facts here about her, like her lactose intolerance and love of boardgames.

Rough character sheet for adult Rekki and her amazing pants. People were surprised by the revelation that Rekki grew up to be pretty short (poor lass, she's taller than me at least!) I guess it was different for me because adult Rekki was designed before 14 year old Rekki.

Honestly, since I have started working digitally the closest thing to a sketchbook is my comic. I tend to do fanart or painting when I am drawing for my own pleasure. this is one of dream from Neil Gaiman's sandman. I also did one of death but I don't know if there is a limit on file size so I will share it only if someone asks or I change the file size after I smoke lol
