So I got a question did the website developers of this forum give up on the message option?

Hi as someone who has temporarily got back on Tapas and it’s forums, I was surprised to see when I was giving out reviews to multiple authors I wasn’t able to hear back from them about there critiques, I was curious why so I chose to make a new account on the forum and send a random message from this account to it only to find that the new account received no notification, so what’s up with that? Some clarification or update from the developer would be nice.

I'm definitely not the developer, but if you @ someone or like their comment they'll be notified. Otherwise they won't be. I have zero idea why. Does that mean you didn't see my last thank you message for reviewing my novel XD?

I think I did but the thing was our messages were public since I didn’t delve into the message option yet forgetting about the function after two years, also if I didn’t see your last message, my bad I hope you truly did enjoy the critique I sent and hope to read more of your story or stories going forward Leyelle​

I think the creators you critiqued are just busy and don't lurk the forums all day (like me, lol). I sometimes get replies from messages that are months old, but i'm overjoyed to get a response. This isnt insta chat, but sometimes-active-sometimes-not kind of place.

Oh, and like Leyelle said, replying directly to a comment does not notify them. Usually they'll have to comb through the threads to see any replies, which sucks.

There's a glitch where notifications aren't showing up for new messages, and to check them you have to click on messages directly. So the people you've reached out to probably don't know they have a new message.
