So I tried to force a thing, and my characters corrected me

In writing the rest of this chapter for my comic, there were a few things I REALLY wanted to happen but no matter which way I looked at it, I couldn't find a way for it to happen naturally. It has been driving me nuts.

So then I decided to sit down and just type out what the characters would do. I won't be getting the cute moments I hope for quite yet, but they showed me something just as cute (and possibly more intriguing) instead.

Just wanted to share this little moment.

Hehehe I know exactly what you mean! I always have a few things in mind that I want to happen in my comic but in the end the characters just dictate a course of their own! The first time this happened to me it was so cool it felt like my characters had come to life I'm glad you got to experience this as well

it can make you tear your hair out cause it wasnt what you wanted.. and sometimes its better then what you wanted.

That's a sign you've constructed solid characters - you're still the master of their fate, but if you've crafted them well enough, you'll know that there are some things they just won't do, given their personalities and circumstances.

It's a nice feeling, when it happens!

Yup. I can't just make the story happen the way I want it to, even though I'm the author. If I forced it, the result would no longer be a fiction; it would be a lie.

This happens a lot, it's awesome when the words just flow out and the characters are leading the way. It's almost like you're getting to know your characters as real people : )

Ohh I know those moments : D Sometimes it feels like I'm not creating the story, just following the characters : D

I know those moments so well too. That's how I had to add some pages to a chapter, because one of the characters wouldn't just go like I wanted her to do a thing. I needed more real reasons.
It's a good thing when you remark it, after all

My theory is that we somehow tap into that alternate universe where the characters actually do exist and that quantum link across dimensions forces our hand!
