So Royal Road is getting a mobile app...yay?

I don't know how to feel about this...on one hand, I guess this will probably mean more traffic and more readers, which is good.

But on the other hand, the Google Play Store's iron fist tends to make things messy for creators on a regular basis...it's hard to parse through exactly what they mean by their "new mature content definitions". Like, what happens if something isn't tagged correctly? Who gets punished...? That's what I wanna know... =T

Anyway, if any of y'all are writers on Royal Road, what do you think about this? And if you're not on Royal Road, does this news make you want to join...?

I wasn't expecting this day to come.

The new mature guidelines seem a little more lenient than what they already had as far as sexual content goes. The disturbing content guidelines are a little hard for me to parse. Though I feel if anything is going to change much, they might crack down on enforcement a little more.

In any event, little of this effects me. I doubt my story would benefit from the increased traffic. The only thing is, some of my characters are definitely mentally ill, and I don't know if that would count as the 'disturbing content.'

I'm glad because using the tiny desktop version on my phone is tough. I hope it works well, though! (speaking of bugs etc.) But yeah doubt this changes traffic, though I would be glad if it it did as I depend on RR more than Tapas given the nature of my genre.
