Something you're proud of in your work - a positivity thread

I keep seeing people being so pessimistic about their own work, it's heartbreaking.

No more of that in this thread!

Tell me something you're proud of yourself with your novel/comic for. Maybe a way you surprised readers, maybe the way a certain passage was written, maybe a character design, heck maybe even that you had the guts to share your story online!

And please read other people's proud moments! If you check out their links, make sure to let the authors know if anything nice stood out to you! We could all use a little more positivity these days.

Personally, I'm proud of character voices and the fact I've not dropped this project like I have so many others. And I keep smiling at the fact that people like that my main has a passion for physics while coming from a family pressuring him to pursue arts - the parallel to the typical opposite of this was something I hadn't considered until people pointed it out!

Honestly, I am primarily the author of my webcomic and work with two amazing artists. Their work is so amazing and I am happy they are working with me. Originally the webcomic is based on a novel of mine. The novel needed a lot of work I admit but to have people work with me, and like the characters enough to want to work with me, made me feel so grateful for having them. I love our team

Just subbed. Thanks. What amazes me about the character Besh in my Space Bum series is that he is so versatile. He begins as a middle-aged man helping a friend find his lost son. Presumed dead, he shows up seven years later after being marooned on a radioactive asteroid and being possessed by the pirini. Due to his condition, his character is old and wizardly. Having been seen to die in a fire, he shows up in the third book, having had a total reconstructive medical treatment from the DNA up. He is now a young man again, still possessed by the pirini but with the inclusion of alien DNA.

I am away right now, completing a prequel to this series in which Besh is in his original youth. I am also working on a sequel to the series in which he finds himself on his home planet as a soldier more at home with his fighting abilities, but the pirini sometimes fails.

I am very proud of my current project as it is something I have been working on 10 years before it was even published. It started off as He-Man fanfiction, but evolved into a much deeper story. After completing three other series, I feel like everything else has lead up to this.

Mary Shelley's novel is my favourite monster tale and it set the standard for how to write intelligent monsters. I always wanted to do my own spin on the tale, but with a twist. I am working hard on my novelization because I intend to submit it as a professional manuscript to a contest, so that it gets me through the door. Even if it doesn't, it will still serve as the bones for the comic version.

One thing I'm proud of in my comic is how I'm able to tell a joke concisely within 4 panels. With this kind of comic, I have to be careful with my wording so that the setup and punchline make sense and don't feel rushed. And I think I'm doing a good job with that!

In the comic with my husband, You Are Hue, I'm so proud of how we are keeping up with stuff in the other comic and not making potholes since it's a sorta sequel concurrent story thing to our comic Hue Are You.

What I'm proud of with Romance Splits is how we have made characters that feel free, are neurodiverse, queer, and just showing people in love.

I got lots to be proud of right now.

My ability to stick to a story/project longer than 3 years! (I usually ADD out of it by now) - started in 2021
My style improvements!
And actually publishing something online after being in the dark for idk 30 years...

Not to mention, getting viewers interested in the entertaining drama of chickens XD

Oh yeah...I forgot Friar "dropped" it in a different thread XD Should work though...

I think the thing I like the best of my Frankenstein retelling is that is a VERY introspective story. I´m trying to focus on the search of identity, isolation, anxiety and depression themes.
It´s quite a lot, actually, and I´m pretty sure I´ll be wanting to pull off my hair when I get to edit the novel. But, for now, I´m enjoying this path.

Actually getting a project done for once, many years ago when I started webcomics I never got past the first page. After giving myself a stern talk about working on and sharing my stories and not just reference sheets and random art pieces I have made a start. Here I am with the 3rd episode being released tomorrow and currently working on Episode 6

Couple things I'm proud of:
1: I'm 4/5th of the way through my weekly comics and hit over 100 episodes this month. It's very satisfying to be almost done.
2: My coloring and general presentation has improved a lot from my start. I always worked in black and white, but decided this needed to be color.
3: My audience is small but slowly growing, and people seem to enjoy my story. I'm starting to get more feedback on episodes which is always nice.

I always thought my OC Mister Mimic's design was too simple. But, a lot of people seem to like it and have commented on it. So in that regard, I am proud of how I somehow managed to get others hooked on him. ;u;

I'm proud of the way I write the narration in my novel. It's almost like poetry, and this is a way of meshing writing styles that I personally love. I'm also proud of the uniqueness of some of the chapter titles, and the fact that the novel managed to make some people cry.

I'm proud of the diversity of the characters and all their hobbies and interests, They truly are a wide range of people, culturally, aesthetically, personality, etc all mixed together. Some of them even have unique ways of speaking based on their country or cultures of origin.

Diva has a lot of urban influence in her speech, while Mad is british, and Jinwoo's speech pattern is unusual for unique reasons.
