Yes, I already agreed to that. And, what can the less popular creators do other than seeking spotlights. To them, their own work is like a hidden gem. Whether in reality that is true or not, is up for debate, but I wouldn't blame them for thinking and cherishing their contents as a hidden gem. They think that it’s great but people are not seeing it.

but see i think this is an inaccurate perception of the site based on it's promoted series which is why tapas ends up screwing itself over in the short (and probably long) term

by looking at the front page a person would immediately without pause assume that the majority of content on the site is romance or bl and maybe a small percentage of fantasy but it's highly inaccurate which is why i desperately wish they'd change it

i know for a fact that staff has to be aware of the variety that exists on it's platform and even if romance is what's earning them the most money failure to fix the front page and it's promoted series will put tapas in such a small box that the growth it's aiming for will never happen and we'll al suffer for it

like as much as i've come to "whine and complain" i do like it here and want this site to do well but everything feels so narrow sighted

Agreed. Even in my case, I have a short story to share and that is : one day I asked my friend who regularly visits webtoon " Hey, have you heard of Tapas? It's also a good site. I have an account there." He replied to me that he once installed the Tapas app but he thinks 80% of it is filled with BL and romance. That's why he uninstalled it. And never went back to the site.

Agree to most of what's said.
I gave tapas, as a reader, a real good go of it. But as a straight dude whos not into romance, or rpg inspired anime I pretty much quit. It's not targeted at me. Which is fine, I'll go find comics elsewhere.
Tapas seems like somewhere between webtoon and toomic. mostly romance, not quite porn.

You're not wrong, but it also depends on why a person chooses to be on a forum. If one is only in it for themselves, yeah, they probably wouldn't post to forums after they hit a particular level of popularity. But I joined the forums here not only to promote my comic (though that was one reason) but also because I wanted to be involved in a community with other webcomic creators. I'm a slightly more experienced artist than the younger creators here, and I thought I could offer some good advice, feedback, wisdom, and whatever else.

I can't see that changing if I ever got huge. There are only two reasons I could see myself posting on the forums less, and those would be lack of time, or feeling as though I were no longer welcome.

Out of curiosity I decided to check what part bl series are (just comics, as novels have their own genres)

And I'm honestly surprised how low bl ranks

Fantasy? Hard to notice? The amount of clones of Solo Levelling in my front page is hard to go unnoticed. People loves to bash on BL/GL just because if there is more than "two gays" is too much.

Also, MAYBE this is what sells well. If it sells well the company will prioritise it.

looking at this hurts because as a sort of "old timer" on the site i've built up a relatively diverse library. most of what i read goes from fantasy to action to drama a few mysteries and other stuff inbetween. looking at the sites front page and the app and then seeing peoples opinions that are like tapas is only this nothing else just hurts cause i know it's not true and then i'm left to look at tapas like this

like i know the site can do better and what's a shame is they've made statements that it would change or there would be more variety but instead it feels they've just gone all in on this one thing and it feels bad man

I think we've got a chicken and egg situation here - is tapas promoting more series from those genres (thugh with 4 staff pics I wouldn't say there is that much of a bias for bl) because that's what gets most readership or are those genres more popular because tapas is giving them more spotlight?

You can do as you please, but there is NOT bias for BL, not as it used to be backin 2018. It's annoying because Tapas is openly trying to diminish the BL presence and people still claim they are some sort of fave pic.

Idk how Tapas is trying to diminish BL by putting 50%+ of them in the Staff picks. Well, anyway. If that's what you think or that is the case, I have nothing much to add. Perhaps I am at wrong here or just I am the one who sees this in my recommendations.
