Most of, if not ALL my stories are inspired by real-life events. Normal St was inspired by... Well, that one took the effort to create all on my own. Cleo the Wanderer was inspired by my first playthrough of Skyrim, and Parental Guidance was inspired by my first playthrough of Grand Theft Auto 5 alongside various stories about my grandfather being a part of the Hells Angels.
Recently, I've seen two things that have inspired me to create mini-series comics. Each individual thing inspired one series. The first one was inspired when I saw this bartender at some pretty ghetto bar. He had a baby face and looked like such a sweetheart. His surroundings did not match his appearance. He looked like he didn't belong. So, that inspired me to write and perhaps illustrate a mini-series based on that sighting. It shall be called "On the House." It's about a young man named Charlie "Chuck" Brickman who's a bartender at a local Metal bar in LA. He's bullied for free drinks and teased but he misinterprets that abuse as paling around so he takes it all pretty well. He aspires to be the next manager of the bar when his boss eventually retires. He doesn't have many friends and his co-workers only treat him only less than how the metalheads treated him. His bar back; Stephanie constantly antagonizes him and even tries to get closer to the manager so SHE'S given the raise. The bouncer; Leon is mute and doesn't speak at all, and the cook; Abraham is a middle-aged man from Isreal. Charlie has a better relationship with Abraham and he usually gets advice from the man about how to deal with life's troubles.
The series is mainly about Charlie trying to get that raise while dealing with bullying metalheads, his co-worker Stephanie and life as a whole.
The second series was inspired when visiting a library and seeing a poor (annoyed) young woman working behind the desk. She looked SO miserable. It gave me a GREAT idea.
Sorta like the "On the House" series, it's about a young Asian-American named Kimberly, nicknamed Ki-Ki. Basically, she's a librarian working to pay off her student loans and she encounters weirdos and annoying children daily.
Unlike "On the House" this story isn't AS developed, which is why I won't be working on this story for a while. However, I'm just as excited to begin the first series as much as I am the second one. Wish me luck and keep your eyes peeled. I might just get to publishing soon...
