That reminds me of this 'cheater's hangman' I came up with a long time ago; it's a three letter word beginning with 'a' and ending with 'e', but every middle letter the players guess is wrong until you've exhausted all the possible choices 
(In hindsight, there aren't really enough valid words that fit the pattern for people to actually lose this, which is exactly the opposite of what I was aiming for XD)
