I'm wondering... is it bad to like or subscribe to a comic solely to show support, or just because of your like for their art style... even though you're not necessarily a fan of their comic genre (i.e. for me, horror). I'm wary of subscribing especially because I've seen persons say, "don't subscribe if you don't read".

That's because on Tapas, those who subscribe but don't read the comic/novel are listed as dead subs in the systems programing and it actually hurts the stuff that determined the status of the comic by the system. So if you are goin to check each update and whatever, it's ok. But really, if you think the art is nice even if it's not your thing a lil note goes a long way too.

I've done that before. I've subbed to comics that I wasn't too sure of (maybe I wasn't a fan of the genre or art), but the creator is a cool person, and I admired their dedication to the craft  I try to check in on their work once in a while, but it's not a priority. If the story takes a turn I'm not into, I'll unsub, though.

If you like their art enough to click the like button you're totally fine to sub if you feel the urge. It's a little thing, just one click of a button, but it could mean a lot, especially to a smaller creator. The only thing people don't want is sub for sub promotions because those people never actually keep up with comics they sub to because they sub to like hundreds of people at once and clearly don't read anything they sub. But even if you're a sub that only tunes in a few times a month when there's enough updates, that's fine.

That’s why I came up whit this idea

I don't sub if I don't plan to read it at all. I have friends, but I generally won't try to give fake support.

It's best to subscribe to comics you're legitimately interested in reading. Reads and likes will keep a comic alive, not subs.

I agree. And also as a creator I want my subscribers to sub because they like my art and story, find it engaging and want more. If people are just subbing here and there with no actual interest in the work, how would I know if the people who follow me really like my comic?
