I have more than one comic in progress at the moment but had to put two of them on hold due to me not having enough time to work on them while still reliably updating my most popular comic. Inking takes up 80% of the time it takes me to finish an episode so it would definitely be a big help to be able to send off my penciling, get it inked, and then only have the coloring and lettering to do.
I'm not sure how I'd even go about hiring someone for this though. Would I be expected to pay them per episode/page? Per panel? An hourly rate? In one of my comics the episodes are fairly short (5-10 panels), but in another it can be 20+ panels.
Does the genre matter? Working on a slice of life story might be easier than working on an action-heavy one for some people. Also, one of my stories is BL, which some artists might not be comfortable with.
Basically, I want to have an idea of the amount of money I need to spend before I start actively searching for someone to hire.
