Obviously this is a question for people who have superhero comics.
What is your designing process? How do you come up with the costume designs and color palettes? What are you conscientious of?
Personally I like my costumes to be practical, so no women fighting in bikinis. I think about it in real world terms, if a woman was fighting crime would she really want her breasts to have no support at all? Things like that. However, I will give a character a sexy costume if they request it or if it's their style instead of immediately making it sexy because tits and ass. Capes also come up a lot, I just think they get in the way... unless they can be used as a weapon or as an extension of the wearer's powers.
That's just one of the examples but I also think a lot about colors and how they look next to each other and if they are marketable and memorable, i.e. Wolverine's black and yellow suit, or Spiderman's blue and red. I also spend a lot of time looking at fashion magazines to pick up new and modern ideas.
I would share my costumes here with everyone but I'm at work right now and can't access my files
but PLEASE feel free to show me yours and your creative process behind them and your decision making!
OH ALSO! Have you ever been disappointed with a costume someone else has made? Like, for example, I read the Hero Aca manga and was very let down with Mirio's costume colors... I feel like they clash too much, specially that green on yellow. I was imagining more like a blue suit with accents of yellow/gold throughout.
