I'm completely okay with LGBT themes! I'm in the same boat as hazyandstar where I don't really feel good about reading through sex scenes, but other than that, I can't think of any themes that I wouldn't be alright with reading.

My story is fairly tame, but there are horror themes I plan on adding, but for what I have so far the most is one scene with a bloody corpse. But if I add swear words at all, there won't be too terribly many and there will be absolutely no sex scenes, so it should be alright!

I hope that this won't come off as corny, but I want to thank the Tapastic staff for having this contest. I have not enjoyed writing fiction for years because of some personal issues going on in my life, but I figured this contest was just too good of an opportunity to miss. Working on my contest submission has made me love writing again, and so has vastly improved my life. THANK YOU, TAPASTIC! I've got a virtual hug for that smiley face with a bowler hat!

I agree, it was a good way to get me started on developing a writing habit and I ended up creating way more than I expected. Now, it being any good is a completely different issue
Speaking of which, is it okay too ask about when the winners will be announced. I don't want to sound impatient, but this is always the hardest part of any contest: the waiting.

Here's an estimate:

Average reading speed: 200 wpm
Length of a submission: 12,000 words / 200 wpm = 60 minutes

Total number of Facebook confirmations: 51

Assuming 51 entries, that's 51 hours of reading. If one judge reads all the entries that's 6.375 business days of reading. Assuming likely 3 judges (Gabby, Jessica, and Michael) then it's going to be at least a week minimum. However Michael is 5 days behind on tipping so he probably won't judge right away.

Assuming that Jessica and Gabby start reading on the 8th, they will finish on 16th. Michael will probably not start until the 16th when Gabby and Jessica narrow it down to the top 10 or so. But with the podcast recorded on Thursdays, Michael probably won't read anything on the 16th. Maybe he will read all of them on the 17th and the 20th. So probably:

Winners will be announced on the 21st.

Total speculation though.

The automated email from Tapastic is for any and all communications, whether from those who are in the 30 Day Challenge competition, to say, Stan Lee wanting to start a new premium series on Tapas.

We expect that it will take at least 2 weeks on the writing competition. Michael is the head of content and with all his time focused on getting tipping activated, its going to be a while before the writing competition gets proper attention. It's a matter of limited time and what is most important, and getting the 100s of creators waiting in line turned on for tipping is highest priority.

Staff probably underestimated what a massive success tipping would be when planning the contest back in December.
