"You have to do more than hope, boy." Alpha-7's tone becomes more rough and scolding, "What about Erras? Constantly coddling you, babying you, don't you want to prove to him that you can take care of yourself?"

"Push yourself beyond the limit! The people you care about, the people you want to protect!" Alpha-7's tone rises, "Become strong for their sakes! You must become strong enough to help them bear the weights upon their shoulders! The world itself will try to kill, and you need to fight back! You need to stare back at the face of the universe and declare that you will define your own future!"

"Make yourself into the man you want to be! Burn these words into your mind! Everything you do, every drop of sweat and blood, every tear that runs down your cheek is for them!" Alpha-7 continues, they're getting carried away at this point but their words give Gen goosebumps, filling him with passion and determination, "You don't become strong for yourself, you become strong for them! To protect them, to support them! You will become strong enough to reach out and change the future, for them! You do it all for them!"

"Well, there's only one way to find out!" Cate says, preparing the pot for potion making. The first thing she needed to do was fill the pot with water or any type of liquid.

Alpha-7’s words really moved Gen. He didn’t respond. Instead he just repeated what the men had said over and over again inside his head, as he struggled through the remaining push-ups.

He would get stronger.

He would protect his friends and loved ones.

And he’d definitely tell the universe to p***-off and define his own future!

“How.... c-can... you guys.... do...” short exhausted breaths.

The witch headed over to the pitcher and use it to fill her pot. Next step was heating the water so the ingredients could mix well later on.

((Good call. Cate is actually capable of heating it with fire but she doesn't like to use it since she is afraid of fire. So she'll ask Glen for help.

"Hey uh, this might be rude to ask... could you perhaps help me to heat the pot? I'm not good with fire." Cate explains.

Gen had questions about the super human serum, but he couldn’t get the words out.

Those last five reps were slow and painful and barely passable as push-ups, but Gen gave it his all and finished the lot.

"Ah, uh... of course!" Glen nods, "We should move it towards the window, first."

"We hope you're ready, that was just the beginning. Take five minutes to catch your breath." Alpha-7 instructs, placing a water bottle next to Gen.

"Okay then." Cate nods as she bends down to pick up the pot. It was heavier now that it was filled with water. Nevertheless, she slowly shuffled to the window.

Glen picks up the pot and places it on a metal stand, a frame with four legs and a little metal pit in the center. He adds some kind of powder to the middle and inhales deeply, breathing out a spew of fire.

The powder rapidly catches fire and explosively ignites into a controlled fire.

Cate takes a few steps back as she witnesses Glen breathe fire.
"I'll never get used to fire..." she mutters.

"I know from my limited research that other cultures tend to view fire as destruction." Glen tells her, the fire in his head rising back to its normal levels, "But I prefer to view it as life. Fire is not like earth or water, fire breaths, it casts light into the darkness, provides warmth in the cold. Fire is nothing to fear."

("Limited" here means he only spent three months researching it.)

Cate has the ingredients ready. She waits until the water boils. The first thing she'd do once the water is ready would be to add the moss in the pot.
